Why does Nintendo do this? A different code for each game?!!!? It is the same on the DS and a royal pain in the @ss. Outside of me just whinning about this, is there an actual reason for this practice.

What if your friend has one game and not another? Or your playing online with complete strangers, but find you make a good team. I think they did this so there wont be clutter, each game has its own list of people you can join up with.

There's something I wonder. Do they mean that the online multiplayer is managed by the game and not the console. You know, like on PS2, socom had it's own login and password compared to tony hawk. It won't be a channel where everything is managed.
Anyway, I don't know much about the DS online features and how close this will be. So I'm just throwing speculations.

Why do people really care so much anyway? Remember you don't need a friends list to actually play online, you can quite happily jump into a game of smash bros with complete strangers.
So nintendo is different, we all know that, and yes it is a shame you can't just add anyone you want onto a friends list, but get used to it people, no ammount of moaning will change it, just have fun with it, when you start playing games like smash bros online, you won't care

i agree. besides, all your real friends that you know in person can be easily added to your friends list, which is good. Also, if people have problems with kids looking at porn and what not on the wii, just imagine when they have a bunch of pedifiles on their friend list...it someways this online thing sucks, in others it is good.

Nintendo needs to just give up on trying to save the world from pedaphiles and rapists. They need to realize that there are much better approaches to restricting young kids from playing with adults. They need to stop restricting the quality of their software and understand that if people get too pissed off, even the great nintendo fans will just say go f*** yourself. and suck it up and buy a 360.

haha, Have you seen the wii at all, didn%u2019t Nintendo have the balls in bringing such a console that is so totally different to the market. And look at the demand, Nintendo took the risk and it paid off. It%u2019s Sony and Microsoft who should %u2018grow some balls%u2019, after all, they are just going down the bigger controller and better graphics route, where as Nintendo has gone down the small controller and more interactive gameplay route, they had a lot of balls to do that.
And I am sure that with the next consoles, Nintendo will include Hi-def as prices would have gone down alot (don't forget it was nearly included this time), Sony and Microsoft will also probably include motion sensor gaming as well (sony will of course improve the ***** shking controller that you can only shake), as the wii is such a success, only time will tell. In the mean time, enjoy the wii and the work that Nintendo are doing to get the gaming industry out of the black hole it%u2019s put itself in. The hole that actually came about because of companies going for better graphics and bigger controllers and rising costs.

Ok people, stop complaining. No one really needs to be complaining. We all wanted online, and we didnt care how Nintendo did it, just so they did. Now you wanna ***** about it being diferent. GameSpy has been universally hated for quite some time due to their product carrying adware. It might have gotten better recently but as of two years ago it was crap. I uninstalled it and cursed the earth they walked on after figuring out where all the spyware/adware was coming from (gamespy arcade).
I'm sure the Wii has an API for accessing the address book to find friends wiis. Why they haven't gotten their crap in gear by using that eludes me unless they have no idea what they're doing. Given the track record of the company before, it's most likely due to the fact that they cannot easilly establish who is playing the console and therefor cannot accurately calculate possible ad revenue from loading screens and such. Very likely there will be some process by which people have to "log in" to gamespy.
