Media Watchdog Disappointed with Nintendo over MadWorld - Image 1

This isn't blood, it's... blood-flavored ketchup?

Bad Nintendo, bad. You made the NIMF angry. The media watchdog group has expressed disappointment with the big N over allowing ultra-violent game MadWorld to be published on the Wii, accusing the console of no longer being family friendly.

The National Institute on Media and the Family, who once famously accused the Xbox game Stubbs the Zombie of promoting cannibalism back in 2005, sent out a press release saying that Nintendo has "shed its 'family friendly" reputation with MadWorld's release. Dr. David Walsh, president of the group, says:

The release of MadWorld for the Wii brings violent videogames to a once family-friendly platform.

In MadWorld, gamers use the Wii Remote to make the necessary physical actions to chainsaw an opponent in half, impale an enemy with a signpost or decapitate a victim with a golf club. MadWorld is another reminder that parents need to make sure they watch what their kids watch and play what their kids play.

In the past, the Wii has successfully sold itself as being the gaming console for the entire family and a way to bring family-game nights back into people's living rooms. Unfortunately, Nintendo opened its doors to the violent videogame genre.

The National Institute on Media and the Family hopes that Nintendo does not lose sight of its initial audience and continues to offer quality, family-friendly games.

Aw, NIMF. Just the mention of "chainsaw" guarantees that this game will get even more sales.

Dead Rising, unless killing zombies with lawn mowers and chainsaws and an array of other motor driven equipment is satisfactory for the Wii's reputation.

Maybe they should make their own game console! Nintendo makes a good point, and they want the Wii to be for everyone.. Definitely picking this game up when I get paid

"The National Institute on Media and the Family hopes that Nintendo does not lose sight of its initial audience and continues to offer quality, family-friendly games."

Of its 'initial audience'? What's that supposed to mean? Sure the Wii has a lot of games geared towards the family, but I don't think that was the 'initial audience' they were going after.

Nintendo was missing some mature games that it desperately needed. I look at my game shelf at home, and cried at the lack of Wii games I had to play. I have bought every game worth a notable mention, but that's only like 12 or 13 of them... My Xbox 360 collection is up to 55 games at the moment, and counting with every month that passes. I think Madworld is finally going to be game I can sit down and actually play my Wii without a party going on...

 » come on

 » this is just stupid

ps3 and xbox 360 come out with casual games and they are both still considered hardcore console and then wii comes out with madworld and all of a sudden it became a non family console. THIS IS JUST STUPID

» Well, Families have their issues too...

I mean families aren't perfect, they got their massacres too! lol

So NIMF, Accept reality! Welcome to the real world, where people like violence over Mario Kicking a ball...

OMGROLF!

Hilarious!
