Unreal Engine 3 - Image 1

It's been said before that the Nintendo Wii won't be getting its own port of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3. Well, it looks like things have changed, and the Wii looks to be rocking the engine in the future, after all. Thing is, though, Epic itself won't be the one bringing the engine to the console.

In a recent interview with Kikizo, Epic Games VP Mark Rein revealed a few details about Unreal Engine 3's upcoming debut on the Wii. Here's what Rein said:

I know one of our licensees who's giving it a shot; it's their own port, in the same way Ubisoft brought Unreal Engine 2 to the Wii - I mean Splinter Cell and Red Steel - Unreal Engine 2, and there's a few others... but it's just, we won't don't do it ourselves.

Rein further added that Epic will instead focus on improving the engine on the platforms it is aiming at: PCs, the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. Details about which licensee will be porting the engine to the Wii are still sketchy at this point, but we'll be keeping an eye out for further developments.
