Homebrew - Twilight Hack v0.1-beta2 - Image 1Great news for those fellows who got Hack blocked. Team Twiizers' marcan has released Twilight Hack v0.1-beta 2, specifically made to go around the blocks in the Wii's Firmware 3.4 update.

Here's the word from marcan:

Will this finally be the last release of the Twilight Hack? Will Nintendo finally manage to beat it into the ground? Third time’s the charm, maybe? We don’t know.

This is for 3.4 ONLY. 3.3 and earlier users should continue with the v0.1-beta1 Twilight Hack.

The hacked savefile will be deleted on every boot, so you should copy it, run Zelda, and immediately install HBC, as the hack will be gone once you go back to the System Menu (and then you’ll have to copy it again to use it again).

JAP and PAL are untested but ought to work.

Again, it is advised not to update your firmware yet, if you value your Wiibrew.

Over 9,000 points to Robman62 for the tip!

» Yeah! you guys are the best!

This is sweet news to the homebrew scene of Wii.

Now I can hack other peoples Wii.

I thought 3.4 deleted custom channels as well? So the HBC still works?

   Re: guttertalk - 2008-11-24
 » HBC is not affected

Yes, HBC still works, but the folks at hackmii recommend not updating (although I find the faster SD and CD access attractive) : http://wiibrew.org/wiki/System_Menu_3.4

Ah, ok. So it's just those with illegal WAD channels that are affected. Thanks!

 » illegal wad?

by illegal wad channels, should i understand those hacked VC/wiiware "out" there? :P

i thought the wii saw them as official as you can install, delete and then download them from official wii shop channel...

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-11-25
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

No, it doesn't. You can install them illegaly, but that doesn't mean you can then download them from Nintendo.

I don't care about those. I wish Nintendo would kill those but leave the HBC alone.

 » well

im just saying what i read around. i have yet to try installing any homebrew, but im too wussy i can brick my wii :P

so in the end the new firmware would wipe any hacked VC but leave HBC then? thats weird... maybe ninty kinda likes homebrew after all haha

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-11-26
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

Well, HBC is a custom channel. Maybe they just updated some routine that VERIFIES known channels and makes sure they're legal.

It's weird, you would think it would be easier to just kill invalid channels.

Either way I'm not updating. I finally AR on Wii and I'm not giving it up!

I have always wondered that if i were to update to 3.4, would the Homebrew Channel and backup loader still work? And would the Wad Installer still work?
If anyone can answer i'd apreciate it very much because i can't play NFS undercover with my current firmware.

One up for the homebrew community, next we'll see firmware 3.5 claiming they "fixed"; it...
