HMV exec reports Wii demand still high - Image 1According to HMV, the Wii is still practically flying off store shelves as consumer demand for the console stays at an all-time high. If this trend continues, supply for the holiday season will surely run out.

But on the upside, game sales have been rising as well, and not just Nintendo's first-party titles. Tim Ellis says that third-party games are now racking up sales numbers.

Anonymous - Image 1Somehow, there's a mysterious entity in the Internet whose rumors are being quoted by several gaming blogs. SurferGirl's rumors are too juicy to pass up, so here they are.

One of the juiciest is the rumor about multiple Zelda titles coming for the Wii, with a major one to be released in two months time. Another Wii-related gossip fodder is word of Nintendo already working on 30 WiiWare games, with a few Zelda and Mario titles.

SurferGirl also talks about a possible Shenmue game for the Wii, but she is mostly uncertain about the rumor herself, saying that Shenmue Online for the PC is the only Shenmue game in development. There are also some other small tidbits, such as Transformer's director Michael Bay not being tasked to direct the Prince of Persia film, but will possibly serve as producer.

Will the mysterious SurferGirl prove to be another Michael Pachter? Let's wait this one out.

All this hype and build-up for the coming Tokyo Game Show is getting us tense. So, to wind down before the storm of updates, confirmations, and gossip clean-up, we bring you some light content for Sunday leisure reading to cap the week. Well, not so much of leisure reading as it is leisure listening and watching.

This is RobinHoodFR's take on the Hyrule Field main theme from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. What's impressive about this piano version? Well, if you haven't played the game, much less heard the Hyrule Field theme, it's as orchestraic as you can get - complete with drums, flutes, bass, and violins (unless this blogger needs his ears checked).

Now think all those instruments but only recreated on the piano. That's the hook here. Yes, it's not Wind Waker's Great Sea theme, but impressive nonetheless. Given how musically complex the original piece by Koji Kondo is, this guy's put in some serious effort to play this tune out.

Our hats off to RobinHoodFR for some good music this weekend! Definitely brings back memories of all those times we went Golden Bug hunting and Heart Piece searching all over Hyrule.

Zelda on E3 - Image 1

Gaming site IGN caught up with Twilight Princess Director Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo Producer Shigeru Miyamoto a while ago at E3 and when you have the two at hand, you shouldn't let anyone go without asking a Zelda-related question - be it related to the current video game title on Wii or even about future iterations.

IGN went for the second question and received quite a few interesting answers from the two. According to Miyamoto, there is a high possibility that a new Zelda game will be released on the Wii because the console has a lot of potential and there are many areas that they haven't fully explored yet. The producer added,

It's really hard to say because we've never had a Zelda that's appeared so early in the life cycle of the system, so it's definitely possible that there would be another Zelda on Wii. Of course, the challenge is that typically a Zelda game is something that takes three years to develop, so we'll just have to wait and see.

While Director Aonuma agreed with Miyamoto's statements, he was a bit more vague regarding future projects. He added that it is true their team has some ideas in the works but none of them have been approved yet. Aonuma also said that they are still very much in the planning process.

Eiji Aonuma also brought up the DS title Phantom Hourglass, "The Phantom Hourglass has been released in Japan and reception has been very, very positive. We've actually been able to receive feedback from the users and we'll definitely take all of those comments into consideration when creating the next Zelda, whether it be for Wii or DS".
