Ikebukuro video game store on launch date of Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Image 1

Gamers in Japan were lining up pretty early this morning for a chance to score a copy of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii console, with today marking the official release date of the game in the country.

The image above shows one of the major video game stores in the Ikebukuro district. By around 9:15 a.m., over 150 people have already lined up in front of the store to get their brawl on ahead of the other hopeful gamers.

To help facilitate sales, the store had three different cashiers on the first floor to exclusively take orders for the title. Customers first had to reserve their copy of the game on the fourth floor of the store at the Super Smash Bros. Brawl booth before going downstairs to secure the game.

A majority of the buyers were men in their 20's, although there were still a lot of kids getting a copy of the game. In addition to the standalone title, copies sold with a separate GameCube controller were also available.
