I cant believe people are still trying to compare the 360 to the PS3, or even the Wii, Ok first of all the 360 is the only one that is actually out on the market, it is the only one that is being played, so you cant compare it to something that doesnt even exist. And secondly you shouldnt even talk about the PS3's price because its not even for sale yet, and you cant say its online is free because its not even online!!, In fact it doesnt even plan on being online for the first year. Now other the other end of the spectrum is the Wii, hmmm yeah this is very inovative and new, but its definetly not impressive, yeah i can wave a controller around the room and wow my friends but graphicly its not much better than the Game Cube. If you want a kick ass machine that is backed by an impressive company then you should really think about buying a 360, and going online, because that my friends is what its all about!

Wow this is the most biased thing i have ever seen. Who the hell even bought the "core" version of an xbox. They take the core package and add everything that is missing compared to the premium pack, making it basically 2x the prise. Stupidest thing i have ever seen!

How many people have HDTVs and How many of those with HDTV will use a console other than for playing games. Well let's do the math: about 10% of people have HDTVs (I'm being nice). And out of those 10%, maybe 25% will actually use it for movies on a PS3 (Remember HD-DVD and BR movies are $20 more than DVDs, so yea...) Let's say Sony sells 500,000 for launch which with no doubt will happen. 500,000*0.1*0.25= 12500 BR users Hmmm, not an instant 500,000 people base with BR is it?. Same will happen with the HD-DVD addon for 360. So boom 2 points in one: 1. PS3 won't help out BR that much 2. HD-DVD is not required and very few will buy it. Since the majority won't buy the HD-DVD addon, we can easily take out HD-DVD out of the equation because WE CAN. Too bad I can't rip out the BR drive out of the PS3 cause its integrated. So, $599 no matter what.
Hey Sony, PS3 core system once bought will not have WiFi support.... No matter what. Its just not there. 360 people at least buy one, but PS3 core people can't. So why did I bring this up, because no one will buy the PS3 core system . Its crap. Lets just use the PS3 premium system. So don't flamed me for using the Premium system just to make the price sound higher. (Same applies to Xbox 360 core system)
Any idiot knows that add-ons separately are always more expensive than bundles. So let's use Premium Xbox 360 and Premium PS3 as I mentioned why in the previous paragraph).
Premium Xbox 360 ($400)
Wifi Adapter ($100)
12 month XBL ($50)
TOTAL: $550
Premium PS3 ($600)
HD cable ($40) - if not included in the box

Hmmm...... Then again, 360's Live is better because only cheese in a mouse trap is free. Cmon, seriously, how will sony maintain PS3's Online gaming.... You have to maintain the servers somehow which means you got to pay people. Sony is already losing money which is a first for them and don't plan on losing more just to make you happy.
One of three things will happen (TAKE MY WORD):
1. They make you pay down the road (Not directly, but separately for games) so there is no lag.
2. They'll copy Microsoft and have two subscription types. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX PEOPLE. They said that the Store, Downloads, Friend Chat is ALL GOING to be free. Well yea, you can do same with 360 (Silver membership - $0) BUT GAMES ONLINE, they never mentioned anything about the GAMES. (I smell something Gold along the lines - paid subscription).
3. IT WILL BE FREE - but lag happens. (Take economics - OPPORTUNITY COST) You always sacrifice something for something else. It's a given.
So maybe I should take out XBL out of the equation too for now.
New Totals:

PS3 - $700

If you buy the $399 Premium unit it comes with a wireless controller and one year of Xbox Live, striking $100 off that screwed up total. That means you would only need to buy the HD-DVD add-on for $199, making it $598, to compare it to the 20GB PS3 model. A $99 difference, not $199.

sorry but SONY have reiterated again and again that if PC is FREE then PS3 too when it comes to playing online games. the only thing that i can see PS3 owners paying online is extra content. example are extra levels, extra weapon, classic jerseys or classic players (michael jordan) when it comes to sports games. but it will still be FREE. EA and SEGA have been doing online games way before XBOX LIVE. they didn't even charge the PS2 owners for a dime.
If PC developers can find ways not to charge consumers, so can SONY. FREE online capabilities is one of their selling point why would they change their strategy? Advertisement is one way they can generate income. Maybe SONY can take a lesser share for their royalties to those developers who implement online features for their game. If they say that its FREE, then literally its FREE. They are not dumb to charge PS3 "potential" buyers because once they do that nobody is going to buy a PS3...duh! It seems like you want SONY to charge their consumers like what MICROSOFT is doing to you. Sorry it won't happen....keep dreaming...hehe.
sorry but SONY have reiterated again and again that if PC is FREE then PS3 too when it comes to playing online games. the only thing that i can see PS3 owners paying online is extra content. example are extra levels, extra weapon, classic jerseys or classic players (michael jordan) when it comes to sports games. but it will still be FREE. EA and SEGA have been doing online games way before XBOX LIVE. they didn't even charge the PS2 owners for a dime.
If PC developers can find ways not to charge consumers, so can SONY. FREE online capabilities is one of their selling point why would they change their strategy? Advertisement is one way they can generate income. Maybe SONY can take a lesser share for their royalties to those developers who implement online features for their game. If they say that its FREE, then literally its FREE. They are not dumb to charge PS3 "potential" buyers because once they do that nobody is going to buy a PS3...duh! It seems like you want SONY to charge their consumers like what MICROSOFT is doing to you. Sorry it won't happen....keep dreaming...hehe.

Yeah the DVD games will cost the same, but at this moment Sony doesn't have the guts to tell everybody the price of their blu-ray games. They are waiting for the launch day to hit the poor bastards who buy the system with a tag of $80.00, $90.00 or even $100.00 bucks because "is new technology" and everybody wants it. And don't come here with stupid comments , becuse what I'm saying real, in less that a month the PS3 launches, and the price for this games is not revelaed yet.

They said launch titles will be .99 just to match Xbox's prices. Meaning, if it wasn't for the Xbox 360, we'd be all buying PS3s with games costing over . They might still implent higher prices down the road though because right now all they care about is people buying out their consoles, and having games at this moment wouldn't be the best choice.

What Online PC games are you talking about. If you mean like Steam: Counter Strike, Half-Life, etc. Then yea, but those games are from the last decade. What about current gen games like WoW? /month. Man that rocks. Even Final Fantasy Online for PC is a paid subscription (/month). Since WoW has over 7 million people playing, they need some nice servers which you need to maintain, you also need Moneh!!!. But what's nice about WoW is that servers are almost flawless (no lag), they got GMs and amazing Customer Service. If you think Sony will do all that for free, then you my friend are an idiot. The only reason why steam doesn't charge money is because they are flooding it with new games right now which is paying off. (Oh yea they were also out for 6 years now, a little too late you might say)

If they going to raise it, it will only be $5 more...so you are looking around $65 for regular games and $75 for AA games down the road. If you think about it that's a 50GB Blu-Ray which plays 1080p compare to your DVD9.

well i save 100 dollars over the ps3 to simply not get the hd dvd drive. hell thats the only thing that costs and arm or leg. Don't forget that XBox live PS doesn't compare w/ the unorganized laggy POS online capabilities.
