It's a big win for the gaming industry: Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the monumental Mario and Zelda gaming franchise, topped the list of Time's 100 Most Influential People for the year 2008. Nintendo's Senior Managing Director scored about two million votes, towering over other nominees including the creators of the Rock Band (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii) and Guitar Hero games. Miyamoto also towered over other popular personages including pop singer Rain, the winner of last year's round of Time 100 Most Influential online poll, by more than 300,000 votes, as well as rocker activist Bono, Vladimir Putin...and even the entire High School Musical Cast. Now, THAT's an achievement. Hats off to you, Miyamoto-san! |

Like I said before, he definitely deserved to win it. So the haters can shut up. You know who you are.

» WRONG!
Stephen Colbert is currently #1. Less votes, but higher average rating. He definately deserves to win, not some guy that decides to turn a bath scale into a controller and relies on others' good ideas to make it sell.

This list is extremely stupid, who the hell is Rain?

» Well...
If you look now, Miyamoto-San is top with a sh*tload of votes, and a higher average rating.
You do have a point, though; the list is pretty stupid...
However, I still believe that Miyamoto deserves recognition for his work.
The balance board is not a bath scale, by the way, and will be used in games other than Wii Fit. I think it's a good idea, but 70 quid... I think I'l wait for some sweet looking games to come out for it.
You need to calm down, MCS. Get a cup o' tea.
