Logo of Activision Blizzard - Image 1It looks like a new musically inclined hero is in town. This time, you won't be brandishing a guitar, drum set, or even a microphone. Instead, DJ Hero will let you play with your own turntable and mash-up some wicked tunes in the latest rhythm-based video game title from Activision Blizzard.

An anonymous source from MTV News confirmed that the newly trademarked DJ Hero will soon be seeing action. Gameplay includes scratching up popular mash-ups using a specialized turntable peripheral, created just for the game.

It has been noted that the new title is turning out to be a "licensing nightmare". However, due to the merger with Vivendi, Activision Blizzard now has direct access to the Universal Music Group, hopefully easing the transition of getting popular licensed brands into the game.

DJ Hero may not be the first of its kind (with Beatmania debuting on arcades and the PS2 a while back), but it will be interesting to see what a rhythm game based on a DJ setup will look like on the next-gen platform. In any case, we'll be keeping an eye out for any new updates regarding this new title.

More kinds of games the better. Like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. I welcome this. But if they don't include Daft Punk and Justice (this is a DJ game, DP and Justice are practically musts), I won't be buying this.

The korean DJ Max Portable was a pretty good game. Was hoping for a stateside release sooner or later. Can't imagine a Hero game varying too far from the Guitar hero formula. So it should just be more of the same. Hope it stands up to DJ Max.
