World of Goo - Image 1WiiWare title World of Goo by 2D Boy has a surprising 90% piracy rate. This stat was confirmed by no less that designer Ron Carmel himself, saying the figure was "about right".

Carmel says he himself has seen torrent site with "500 seeders and 300 leechers", as well as received emails from people who "stole" the "demos" of the game, but ended up converting to buy the real thing. However, these converts make up only but a small portion of the pirating population.

Carmel seems to be taking all these piracy in stride, though. He says, "We're doing ok, though. We're getting good sales through WiiWare, Steam, and our website. Not going bankrupt just yet!"

And no developer should ever have to because of piracy.

World of Goo was released on October 13, 2008 for North America, while Europe will only be getting its own dose of goo on December.
