Rumor: Shenmue 1 and 2 heading for the Wii - Image 1According to a rumor that's recently cropped up, the first two installments of Sega's Shenmue game series might be arriving on the Nintendo Wii. This bit of speculation was initially posted on Sweden's Game Reactor magazine, under the publication's rumor section. Here's a translation of the original snippet:

Shenmue is back! Sega has rereleased classics like Nights, Bass Fishing and House of the Dead lately. Now it’s said that Shenmue is next. But don’t think that it’s about a new game, instead, they’re bringing back the two original Shenmue games with extra Wiimote-minigames which will be released for the Wii.

Well, it's not exactly Shenmue 3, but at least it'll give the newer gamers out there a chance to witness the series' storyline from day one. Once again, we remind the readers that this just a rumor, so you'll want to keep a stiff upper lip until more information is released. Here's to hoping this latest bit of speculation will be getting some sort of confirmation before the decade's over.

» how cool would that be with proper wiimote setup

hey this is great news, (if it turns out to be true) if sega can be bothered to reconfigure this game to make use of the wiimote fully and not just a few minigames but to redo things like book carrying using the chuck and the wiimote to balance with the option of the wii fit board for peeps that own one to add extra flavour then shenmue wii would be really really good and i'd buy it cuz last time i played this was on dreamcast, my girl loved it and i never clocked it cuz DC lens packed up. REDO THE control mechanics and Boom it's a hit for wii

More 8 year old Dreamcast shovelware being shoveled to the Wii!

Don't people that buy a NEW system want NEW games?

 » Shovelware

Shenmue is considered one of the greatest games ever made, so it's not shovelware, moron.

And yes, I want new games, but I'd jump at the chance to play these two gems.

It is shovelware because it's 8 years old, originally run on inferior hardware, (even compared to a Wii) and it's being shoveled onto the Wii because it's cheap to port over.

It seems sega is really trying to cater to there fans (yeah i know right?) sothis has a good chance of being true. It may have new graphical upgrades like Sonic adventure DX and other stuff and even a low price! So this sounds like a good idea there sega.

another port lets all rejoice!!!!....oh and throw our Wii's in the garbage....Nothing is going to change....the 2008 lineup, 2009, is complete garbage....If all you own is a Wii, then, wow, I would hate to be you.

the games that the wii lineup has were soooo childish on release date i canceled my pre order for the wii, i'm buying one now, that the shelf has a few adultish games but i have to agree if wii is all you own then thats a shame. lukily i got all xcept ps3 and gotta wait 4 months for my wii to be delivered gives me plenty of time to see if day of crisis makes it to the shelf

 » mr commen sense

dude, use your common sense, sometimes 20% of my ps2/psp games are remakes, cus i enjoy to play it... i dont want to wait for full emulation, its a personal opinion, id rather play remakes than play it off a crappy emuator on the pc where ever now and then crashes etc... since all dreamcast games are gettting shoveld on the wii name me 15 dreamcast games tht have been ported on the wii.. i want new games but dont forget the dreamcast had one of the best games ever made.. if you want new games then dont bother buying this game... other people want to buy it.

many people had enjoyed this game and would like to enjoy it again without illeagly downloading the rom.

i dont want to spend $45 on a game like dragon ball z on the wii and trauma center.. like trauma center which had been remade on the wii, although its almost the same storyline, it was a better port with better graphics.

Mr. Nonsence u might not like remakes but we do, so get lost :)

Hey, if you want to spend more on just a game (plus the Wii cost) rather than a used Dreamcast with said game then go ahead!
