The Associated Press has a new article up on CNN that exposes some juicy new details related to the upcoming Rock Band 2. For starters, Rock Band 2 is set to be released on all the major console platforms, with the Xbox 360 apparently getting the game before the PS3, the PS2, and the Wii. Harmonix and MTV Games also mentioned that the 360 version will be rocking store shelves come September, and that's not very far away. As for the content, we'll let the article speak for itself: The second edition will feature a playlist of over 80 songs - all master recordings - which will include more female-fronted bands and artists who have never contributed tunes to a music game. Combine that with the announced reverse compatibility for Rock Band songs and downloaded tracks, and you have a veritable smorgasbord of music right there on your console. Even better still, it was also reported in this article that more information, including the game's tracklist, would be revealed at E3. It certainly makes us excited at the prospect of singing (and playing) to some new tunes. Here's to hoping part of the GTA 4 soundtrack gets into the mix as well - a little crossover like that would certainly be cool. Keep checking QJ for more updates as they become available. |

» I don't understand...
Are you being sarcastic? Nobody knows the entire track lists yet. The drums look cheap and the footpedal isn't held by anything and the song creator is just a gimmick. They'll probably just copy Harmonix's creator from Amplitude just like they stole the whole band concept. Way to whore off other developers Activision.

I don't think that anyone is really too excited to RB2 when GH:WT is bringing so much new content to the table

» Agree with both posts above me.
I've heard a lot of good things about both games. I think that World Tour will be better because of the song creator and battle of the bands. What I don't understand is what is exactly going to be new about RB2 other than the songs? If the songs are the only thing then why don't they just do it online? The same question goes for Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Metallica...it doesn't make sense to me why they would release an all new game instead of just having it as dlc.

How come it is suddenly a timed exclusive? Isn't this an EA game?

» Song Creator
When you see the song creator, you will be disappointed.

» Song Creator
I agree, the song creator will not be what everyone is expecting. There is no way you can just plop in an MP3, have it split up all the instruments etc so it will mess up when you mess up etc.
I'd say its gonna be as cool as DDR when you can make your own steps... and that's not very cool. I think both will be fun, but Rockband will be ahead, whereas people will just be thinking "Why is this still called Guitar Hero now that I can play drums?"

» good question
they release a whole new disc for a number of reasons
1. PS2 users and Wii users can't just download stuff like us
2. They make a lot of money by making a whole new disc because it keeps people interested and makes new people to guitar hero want to get the game because of the new songs
3. They just feel like it

I'm going to get RB2 over GH because I don't feel the need to spen another $180. I also don't need to take up even more space with more fake instruments

» Bigger Setlists
RB2 is already shaping up to be as impressive if not more than the new GH game. Since they are letting you transfer over your DLC you can increase the setlist without having to pay some odd dollars for an expansion cd that may not have a lot of stuff you prefer to play. I am curious to see how they improve upon their instruments.

Neversoft is just trying their hardest to mimic harmonix. Rock band innovated first. Neversoft copied their idea and tried to add dumb stuff to it like "open strums" and a song creator that won't be useful to the majority of people. Like forging in Halo, not everyone can be a pro at it. I will most likely get guitar hero for the guitar career, as I love that game for that purpose, but I think guitar hero has no business making it a full band game thus I support RB2 for full band play.

I haven't heard about that yet. Is it like what they did in Frequency?

Pretty much every game Harmonix has made sucked.
I know that they came up with the Guitar Hero concept. And for that, I thank them. But GH:III completely blows the doors off of GH:II.

I was thinking the same thing. I can't think off too many female vocalists off the top of my head that I would like to sing. The ones they had in Rockband were pretty unimpressive.

» uh?
It just said there will be more female fronted bands, there were... TWO in Rock Band. So THREE could be all they are talking about. Get a grip you two.

Let me clarify, two in the main track listing, not in the Bonus tracks, but I doubt guys like you really play the bonus tracks so it doesnt really matter.
