Resident Evil 4 for the Wii - Image 1The last time we heard about the critically-acclaimed Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo Wii, it was pretty much about how the Wiimote's going to figure into the gameplay with its motion-tracking capabilities. We're sure that a lot of fans - us included - have had doubts about how it would actually work, and if the Wiimote functions would be detrimental to the gameplay or not.

We may be able to finally put these doubts to rest, as Famitsu has just given Capcom's Resident Evil 4 on the Wii flying colors. Two editors gave the zombie-annihilating game a perfect 10, while the other two snuck by with 9 each. It's to note that very few games actually get this type of praise from Famitsu, much less a score as high as 38 (with Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Soul Calibur one of those honored few).

Barring the fact that the content is pretty much the same as the previous last-gen versions, the reviewers said that the Wiimote offered a fresh gaming experience - that they actually felt closer to the action, and thus, the full effect of fear and tension that only Resident Evil could bring was amplified. They also said that the controls were much more easier to get into.

What does this all mean, then, exactly? Pretty much that the Resident Evil 4 for the Wii could be the console's killer game. Sure, we know the ending, we've beaten it countless times in the other consoles, but there's nothing like feeling you're actually cutting through zombie flesh with a swipe of the wiimote. And with proof that it actually improves the game experience, it could set the standard for "ports" as we know it.

Updates as we get them!

I have a confession, Being a resident evil fan since the original ps-one release, I was a hard core resident evil fan, up untill capcom started cashing in on the name by branding the resident evil name on garbage like dead aim, and other peices of crap. But i had heard a lot of good things about resident evil 4, and i never got around to playing it, Re 4 for the wii will be a completely new experience for me, I cant wait.

» Oh no! It was the targeting reticule!

I know why that guy gave it a 9/10 it was that ridiculous obnoxious targeting reticule that they replaced the laser sight with!
