Reggie Fils-Aime: Nintendo is listening to fans - Image 1Despite Nintendo's seemingly nonchalant attitude to the gripes of its gamers, Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime assures us that they do listen.

When asked point blank whether "the complaints about the friend code systems, lack of a real storage solution, a very lame attempt at voice chat and just an overall uncomfortable online system fallen on deaf ears," Fils-Aime replied:

We listen to our fans all the time. Nintendo fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and believe me, they make their opinions heard.

We're not claiming our way of doing things is better or worse than anyone else – it's just different. [...] We listen very closely to what people have to say, both pro and con, and keep those feelings in mind as we plan ahead.

For example, as you know, we recently launched Club Nintendo here in North America to reward our fans for their loyalty. I know everyone here always envied Japan and Europe fans for the cool Nintendo items they had, and now we're getting some of our own.

Screw loyalty points. I want a hard drive for my Wii. (Why did that sound dirty?)

Couldn't give a toss about the stupid loyalty points, give us some good games Nintendo.
Then again to expect something new from Nintendo is pointless as they wont deliver. Seems there too busy counting the money to make anything decent for the Wii.

I've played plenty of decent Wii games so far. They're obviously doing something right.

Sure there are good Wii games but they're far and few between and nothing good has came out since the start of 08. Or maybe you like playing endless amounts of crappy ports and mini games?

I've enjoyed playing all the games I've played. I'm an adult with a job and a family. I don't need a new game every week. It takes me a while to finish a game. I still have games that I haven't played yet.

So, there are plenty of games for the Wii that are decent.

If you are a loser with no life and play through a game in three days then yes, you will not like the Wii.

Sure a game doesn't need come out every week , but having to wait over half a year for a decent game is ridiculous.I'm not even going to start on the other crap nintendo have pulled. Well no i don't have 3 days to complete a game(student) but ive completed most of the few good games worth playing on the Wii.
I guess you fit into the "casual" crowd
Enjoy carnival games :)

I never had to wait 6 months for a good game. And I don't play Carnival Games.

"We listen to our fans all the time."

That's not a problem. There's a whole Wii channel devoted to sending Nintendo user information. The problem is Nintendo cares about profits far more than what anybody thinks.

"Nintendo fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and believe me, they make their opinions heard."

Damn right! Although I'm not really a Nintendo fan anymore.

"We're not claiming our way of doing things is better or worse than anyone else – it's just different."

Greedier perhaps?

"We listen very closely to what people have to say, both pro and con, and keep those feelings in mind as we plan ahead."

Does Nintendo really know how their fans feel, or just the ones foolish enough to send them user information and surveys? What kind of "feelings" do you have in mind, reggie?

"For example, as you know, we recently launched Club Nintendo here in North America to reward our fans for their loyalty."

Club Nintendo is a reward? From the website:

"Become part of Club Nintendo! Take a survey to earn Coins when you register select products, then redeem those for Coins for exclusive rewards. Club Nintendo is the only way to register products, enter sweepstakes and sign up to receive exclusive newsletters. So take a look around, sign up and enjoy the benefits today. Club Nintendo membership is required to register your products (including your Wii or Nintendo DS Lite)."

Look at the crappy rewards!
https://club.nintendo.com/rewards.do
How much crap do you have to buy to earn 800 coins?
This is as bad as phillip morris selling branded products in exchange for marlbro points.

Trust me, Nintendo isn't doing their fans ANY favors.
