Nintendo mag on published Mario Kart Wii details: Just our speculation - Image 1

It was reported yesterday that Mario Kart Wii is capable of supporting 16 online players in one game. The claim was made by the UK publication of Official Nintendo Magazine (ONM). In a rather stunning turn of events, we learned today that the statements made were nothing but a "healthy speculation".

"The details printed in Official Nintendo Magazine 21 regarding Mario Kart Wii were healthy speculation on our part and are in no way an official announcement from Nintendo. We are sorry if we have misled anyone. We do not set out to mislead our readers", explained ONM Editor Chandra Nair.

Nair further explained that their statements were based mainly from a video shown at Nintendo's press conference during the recent E3. The editor also said that the published info about the revamped DS tracks for the Wii version of Mario Kart are also just their own speculations.

Chandra Nair continued, "While we have reported that characters will be able to pull off stunts in mid-air, this is also healthy speculation based on Nintendo's E3 07 video. Nintendo has not announced that stunts will be a new feature of the game". That should clear out the air on this one but we have to say, ONM's speculations are definitely part of our very own wish list.

Mario Kart Wii is scheduled to be released on the first half of 2008.

 » Well...

Reggie did say that there were going to be many people going against each other online so Im thinking that Its going to be more than 16 players online. More like 24... i hope.

If im not wrong most MK games' grandprix only have 8 cars in a race. So I doubt they'll let even 16 players online... unless this time there are more participants per race :D
