Paramount to increase presence in gaming market - Image 1

In a statement to MCV UK, Alex Carloss, general manager of worldwide distribution at Paramount Digital, said that the gaming industry was likely to hear more about Paramount in games and not just in the high definition format avenue. His statement came after he brought Paramount's parent company, media conglomerate Viacom, into the mix when Carloss expressed pride over the many intellectual properties and the many mediums that their mother company owns.

Currently, some of those intellectual properties have been licensed to the giants of the video game industry - Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and Activision being just some of the big name licensees. Sierra Entertainment's The Spiderwick Chronicles, a game adaptation of the similarly titled motion picture, is one of the most recent of IP licenses.

But speculators believe that Paramount might go far as to creating a more significant presence in the gaming scene - if not flat out push for a third-party publishing entity just like what Warner Bros. did with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE). But as Carloss isn't willing to roll out specifics or definite facts, we'll just have to keep tabs on more official moves.
