EGM - Image 1Is the magazine industry already bust? You've probably heard a lot of print media transferring to the e-format due to various reasons (mostly because of the lack of demand and rising printing costs), and it looks like Ziff Davis Media's very own flagship publication, PC Magazine, is wrought by the same problems.

Earlier this week, the publication firm has revealed their plans to cease print circulation of PC Magazine, and opt for the e-publication approach. "The viability for us to continue to publish in print just isn’t there anymore," said Ziff Davis chief executive Jason Young.

The move to digital content won't be all that rough on the publication since they already have an online counterpart of the magazine in the form of PCMag.com. With this foundation already existing, it's now all a matter of getting more content online.

Furthermore, Young also noted that they're currently considering Electronic Gaming Monthly to follow suit. The decision to halt printing for EGM and publish it online instead isn't finalized yet - the matter will have to be settled by next year.

For the record, EGM is the last remaining video game magazine being circulated in print by Ziff Davis.

 » Great..

Man, This is the last thing us printers need. The printing Industry is dying a slow death!

I have been doing Graphic Arts / Prepress for printing companies for the past 14 years and every year it gets slower and slower with companies going out of business...

What is a printer/prepress man supposed to do?

Than I'll stop going to 1UP. What's the point, their website is terrible and I read EGM because, 1.) its good, and 2.) because unlike 1UP.com, you can actually get information out of it, not just "news" that is a sentence long or comes a week after its been announced somewhere else. Unless their website goes under a drastic change than I won't go to 1UP anymore, its been the same forever. What's the point of leaving a magazine behind and going to only website if that website is terrible? They did the same thing to the Official Playstation magazine and then the website disappeared with it, so maybe this is just the end of 1UP entirely....

Better *****ing not. EGM has been slowly going downhill over the past few years anyway, but I still love it. The latest issue is especially good, actually.
