We've got more updates for Wii fans waiting for Marvelous Interactive's Project O, or Ousama Monogatari: Producer Yoshiro Kimura said that the game is now 30% complete, and that's with a year's worth of conceptual design and about six months of developing the general aspects of the game.Disappointed? Don't be. Project O promises content that will make all the wait worthwhile. One of the recent trailers shown in TGS promises good voice acting, and hilarious activity that'll send you rolling on the floor laughing. Let Marvelous take their time, we say. The player's actions and decisions will decide the King's improvement as a more effective ruler, which hints of a high replay value for this RPG Simulation. We already mentioned that Project O will be a Wii exclusive, and Kimura tells us why: he said that Microsoft's Xbox 360 is too much of a hardcore machine, and that he doesn't want to develop for Sony's PS3 since it's too expensive and difficult to do so. Project O certainly sounds better and better with each update. More news as they come! |

Talk about setting the bar higher, Marvelous Interactive goes right in with Nintendo Wii innovations, this time at the forefront with Project O. It was recently revealed that the game would be a hybrid of RPGs and simulation with an elaborate storyline that will keep you riveted. Have a look at the video below. As you can see, you'll play the role of a young boy who apparently has no parents. He meets a Bull Knight looking for a king. The boy puts on a crown, whamee-kablamee, he becomes king. Now he must use his authority and power to unite the land and bring peace to his subjects. The game seems to have very nice visuals, a light plot that kids and casual gamers can get into, and terrific voice acting to boot. A lofty amount of interaction and adventuring will be in store once Project O hits town. This one's a Nintendo Wii exclusive. |

One of Wii's much-awaited titles, Project O (Ousama Monogatari in Japan), now has a more concrete release date: Spring of 2008 in Japan. It's not really that concrete, but now at least we have an idea when it will be released next year. More details on the game was introduced in the Tokyo Game Show event by Marvelous Interactive, courtesy of producer Yoshiro Kimura and executive producer Yasuhiro Wada, also Marvelous Interactive's CEO. Touched upon in Marvelous' discussion was the issue of Project O's genre. Kimura said that the game is an RPG Simulation, a different thing altogether compared to the Simulation RPG genre. The Simulation RPG genre includes games like Final Fantasy Tactics. Project O promises to deliver more oomph despite the lack of things that players usually manage in Simulation RPGs. Kimura said that gamers will be able to enjoy the game as much as the same way early gamers enjoyed simple games on the Famicom (or NES), and seeing that the game packs in a lot of charm that is characteristic of most classic games, it's not that hard to imagine why. |

Another upcoming game has unveiled its official presence on the interwebs, and this time it's the quirky Nintendo Wii title from Marvelous Interactive, Project O or Ousama Monogatari. Let's see just what King Corobo's online abode can tell us about what sort of king-type duties we'll sure to be engrossed in, as well as the colorful friends and foes eager to get acquainted with the boy with the crown. As befitting someone of royalty, the website's main background is a rich red. The intro animation briefly shows us a logo of someone reaching for the golden crown, before revealing King Corobo in all his glory, as well as two of his friends: a lollipop-toting princess, and a Don Quixote-type guy with a cow for a horse. Very unique. While there's still a lot of content under construction on the website, there's certainly enough to pique one's interest about the game where you play King. Each section has a quaint and simple description that's relevant to its scope, with screenshots that can be clicked for more detail. One of the must-reads are the character section and the UMA section (UMA standing for Unidentified Mysterious Animal). Check out the Spicy Dragon - now that's fear and cuteness combined! Certainly a very good update for Project O. Now how about an actual title we can write into our Wish Lists, Marvelous? Hint, hint! In the meantime, you can check out the website itself by the Read link below. |

More details abound the ambitious game from Marvelous Interactive that lets you take the role of a King governing his subjects, Project O, or Ousama Monogatari, in this in-game screenshot update. With its developers having classics such as Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII and Harvest Moon under their belts, it's probably safe to say that we're going to be in for a very interesting time with Ousama Monogatari indeed. Looking at the screenshots, we see Corobo Bread and his magical crown of authority ordering the townsfolk around, and we see the products of both the ruler and his subjects' efforts with the town buildings and ready-to-harvest crops. The visual style is very Harvest Moon-ish, with superdeformed characters, animals, and buildings. The colors are very vibrant as well, and this is more than evident with the screenshot where Corobo is leading an army of knights to battle with a dragon. Talk about bringing down a massive threat! Project O/Ousama Monogatari is looking great. With cute visuals, RPG elements and the ability to not only take care of a farm but an entire country, it's certainly shaping up to be a classic for the Nintendo Wii console. Enjoy the screenshots! More screenshots after the jump! |

Marvelous Interactive's Project O has finally removed its veil of secrecy and revealed itself in the latest issue of Famitsu. It will now be officially known as Ousama Monogatari (which roughly translates to "King Story") in Japan. It is being developed by a group of individuals who worked in Final Fantasy XII, Dragon Quest VIII and Harvest Moon.
The screenshots and artworks we've seen before hint that this is going to be a simulation/strategy game. Well, it seems that Ousama Monogatari is going to be just that and more given its background story. Players take control of the sick boy Corobo Bread who accidentally finds a magical crown which transformed him into a king. The objective of the game is for Corobo Bread to provide different jobs for the residents of his kingdom. The game will begin in a small town with nothing but wide open green fields and your character's dwelling. You will eventually meet several people and then you can order them to do several tasks like clearing the lands, looking for treasure, and build roads and houses. As your kingdom grows in size, several new establishments will be attracted to do business with your people like weapon shops and restaurants. The fun begins when your kingdom gets pestered by different mythical creatures like fire-breathing dragons and beasts. Details are still vague on this one but it seems that King Story is going to have an RPG component as well. The residents of your kingdom have different personalities and problems of their own. When you talk to some of them, it is highly possible that you will be presented by dramatic story sequences. Famitsu lastly added that the game is currently 35% complete and will be released some time in 2008. The first in-game footage will be revealed at this year's Tokyo Game Show (TGS). |
