Classic ControllerWhether or not the Virtual Console would allow us to download original games has been sketchy for a while. Iwata seemed to be saying yes, but never said it outright. Now, however, we have word that games are already in the works. Not only that, but it seems Nintendo themselves are creating new games for the Virtual Console! Here's the original text from IGN Wii's Mailbox:

Q: Matt, we know that Nintendo is going to have all of its classic games on the virtual console. But what about new games?

A: Well, yes, I can confirm that Nintendo and its teams are already creating an assortment of ground-up original titles for the Virtual Console. I know of several games in the works, but unfortunately am unable to write about them specifically. What I can state is that many of these titles will be very simple and intended as easily accessible gameplay outings.

With Nintendo's own internal development studios working on VC games, we may just see the next Geometry Wars!

Please no... Live Arcade is nice and I definetly want something like that from Nintendo's Wii - but I cannot stand anymore "left stick to move, right stick to shoot" games.
