Box art for the Wii version of Okami - Image 1If you enjoyed the sumi-e inspired, cel-shaded visual style of the PlayStation 2 version of Okami, then you may want to check its Wii version out again, this time on a different format - 16:9 widescreen and 480p progressive scan, that is.

That's right, Capcom practically confirmed this little detail on the page of its online store, amidst a list of other features that players of the original version are already familiar with.

With Okami's  unique graphics, chances are the game will be even more of a pleasure to behold this second time around. With the rumored March release date of Okami almost upon us, more news from Capcom will likely pour in.

So expect more updates on this game as soon as we get them.

...isn't that a REQUIREMENT for Wii software? I'm assuming that the Nintendo Official Seal of Quality still means SOMETHING.

When are we going to start getting 720p support on Wii? Last time I checked, full-screen gaming at 1280x720 doesn't take a hell of a lot of horsepower. If it can run 60fps in 640x480, it should run at least 30fps in 1280x720. Besides, that's TRUE 16:9. If it's in 480p and set to widescreen, the image is just compressed to 4:3 and stretched out again by the TV. Not pretty.

I don't think the Wii hardware is even capable of outputting higher resolutions otherwise they probably would when using the web browser and such.

Also, 1280x720 is over 3 time as much data as 640x480 so 60 fps would go down to < 20 fps. I wouldn't be happy with that as I'm sure many others wouldn't be too.

Nintendo's feather weight Wii isn't really capable of much

 » Blame the devs...

Dude, what's with all the hater comments? I think this is good news considering the PS2 version was 4:3.

@NayusDante
No it is not a requirement, there are plenty of developers that cheap out and make games 4:3 480i. But then again all this has nothing to do with Nintendo, put the blame on the developers. Also the seal of quality has nothing to do with content, it just means that it functions correctly, doesn't have killer bugs etc.

@a500n54
Trolling much?
