RE4 Wii box fan art posted by HellKnight in vgboxart.com - Image 1We really don't know what to make of this. It could just be a minor fluke on the part of the online retail store, but we might as well try to investigate this as much as we could.

As NGCFrance reports, Gamestop has a listing for a certain "Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition" to come out 6/25/07. Immediately, we can see the problem here. We do know that there is a Resident Evil for the Wii, but it's under an "Umbrella Chronicles" sub-title. It has been made clear that this is definitely different from the Resident Evil 4 title released on the GameCube, PS2, and PC. So what's this now about an RE4 Wii Edition?

Well, we decided to scout things out for ourselves on the Gamestop site, but we couldn't find any trace of it (NGCFrance still has a screen cap of it though - click Via link below). Maybe the online store was quick in catching the small error and pulled down their product page for RE4 Wii...

Or maybe (to sound all conspiracy theory-ish about it) Capcom told them to take down their product page because they haven't made formal announcements yet? The developers are, after all, about to make some sort of announcement come Capcom Day on April 12, and until then, maybe they want to keep things hush-hush.

Whatever the case, you can make of this what you will. We're still stamping this with the over-used [RUMOR] label (I think we got it trademarked now, hehe). But in any case, we're still hopeful for an RE4 for the Wii. In fact, we're sure quite a lot of other gamers out there are raring for it.

Take for example, HellKnight from vgboxart.com. He posted his own concept box art of what an RE4 on Wii would look like. We've taken his rendition and posted it above on the right. Yes. That is FAN ART. An he even made a point to sneak in a "Director's Cut" below the title. Oh, wouldn't we all wish...

 » Wow

Stop with these rumors please.

Retailers know absolutely nothing about game releases and frequently get their game stock and release dates wrong.

 » ok rumor it is

but hey capcom wants money real bad, and with wii games far far away in development, why not rehash an old title? can you see the irony? anyways the GC version can be played so why not just use that to save money.

as much as i'd love this to be true (i'm a re4 addict, and re4 could benefit a lot from a wii port), let's be realistic here - somebody is trying to pull a fast april one.

» You guys always help spread a rumor.

Making and/or posting a doctored image DOES NOT HELP. In this case, a box art. Viewers commonly only skim and see the image and go "OMFG ITZ REALSZ!!1".

 » Still up in stores

I work for a Gamestop and we still have the title in our system in the store and people can put a reserve down for it.
