The ongoing Games Convention over at Leipzig Germany's laying host to plenty of pleasantries lately, one of which is this new trailer for Left Field Productions' Nitrobike title. For the guys who remember Excitebike on the Nintendo 64, expect this Wii-bound racer to have plenty of the death (and gravity)-defying stunts its predecessor carried.

And given this is a Wii game we're talking about, make sure to watch out for the snippets demonstrating the Wiimote controls. It looks very similar to Excite Truck based on what we're seeing, but given you're maneuvering a much lighter vehicle for Nitrobike, we'll just have to wait for more details in the near future. Enjoy the video.

Nitrobike - Image 1

For those of us who can remember the original Excitebike on the Nintendo 64, we were treated to a very spectacular experience of gritty, hardcore dirtbike racing that combined good arcade fun with fantastic racing physics that had us sailing through the air after hitting that impossible jump at top speed. Fans of that road-rashing era should be glad to know that the same studio behind that game is now working on Excitebike's spiritual (and next-gen) successor - and that is Nitrobike for the Nintendo Wii.

Yes, the guys over at Left Field productions are at it again, with their current brainchild revealed to the world in the convention of conventions, E3 2007. Of course, we were left hanging back then, with not a lot of updates coming in about the actual game, but now here's no other but James Higgins, LFP's CEO, to reveal a ton of info about Nitrobike (as well as let us partake in some gratuitous eye-candy). Without further adieu, then!

The full interview and the screenshots after the jump!

Nitrobike careening to Europe this November - Image 1 Nitrobike careening to Europe this November - Image 2

If you had fun with Excite Truck but somehow wished that you can have the same brand of gameplay on motorbikes, then the video game Nitrobike is the one you are looking for. This title was recently announced by Ubisoft during the recently concluded E3 Media and Business Summit.

Nitrobike features arcade style-controls which is somewhat reminiscent of the title Excitebike 64 that was released on Nintendo 64 console. In case you don't know, the two titles were developed by just one studio - Left Field Productions. More interestingly, players will be treated this time to a full-fledged multiplayer online mode.

There's still no mention of a U.S. release date but Ubisoft has finally confirmed that Nitrobike will be available throughout Europe this coming November 23. Its suggested retail price is 44 Euros or roughly around US$ 60.73.

E3: Ubisoft announces Wii-exclusive Nitrobike - Image 1

Nitrobike for the Wii - Image 1It doesn't look like Ubisoft is planning to stop with just Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 for the Wii. The publisher has just sent out word via E3 and press release of another new game currently under development as a Wii exclusive, titled Nitrobike.

The game's reportedly going to have players riding rocket-propelled bikes using arcade-style controls, somewhat like Excite Truck. It will also carry support for both standard multiplayer and online mode.

What makes this game announcement all the more interesting is that Nitrobike is being developed by Left Field Productions - the same studio that brought Excitebike 64 to the Nintendo 64 console. As Ubisoft's publishing VP Jay Cohen remarked, "Ubisoft is thrilled to be introducing the first Motocross game available for Wii. Nitrobike’s fun and fast-paced gameplay is sure to be a hit for Wii owners for the holiday season."

Expect this new motocross title to hit store this holiday season. That's all the info we've got available for now - stick around in case we pick up more Nitrobike goodies in the near future.
