Nintendo unveils Mario Kart Wii launch date for North America - Image 1With Europe and Australia all fired up with confirmed launch dates for their copy of Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii, the suspense can only build up for North America.

Well, it looks like their wait is over as well. Nintendo has just sent a press wire announcing that U.S. will be receiving its copy of this highly anticipated racer on April 27.

That's about 16 days after the gamers in Europe get to burn rubber. Anyway, Nintendo of America's Cammie Dunaway had this to say regarding the news:

Mario Kart Wii transforms one of our most popular franchises into a race that every member of the family can join. Driving with the Wii Wheel could not be more natural, and this is one place where speeding is encouraged.

The game will introduce 16 new courses alongside 16 other classic tracks from the previous Mario Kart games. The game will also support four different control schemes, ensuring that there's plenty of room for the way you drive.

Also new to this game is the Mario Kart Wii Channel, which will enable you to access the game's online community to join races, check the world rankings, and download ghost data from other racers.

That's the lowdown on this latest bit of news. Keep on the lookout in case we run into other important info, such as the game's expected retailer price.

I love Mariokart i just wish i owned a Wii! wait no i dont i wish Mariokart was coming out on the PS3!

Waits for barrage of Wii fan-boys to scream 'you **** Mario belongs to nintendo and would never come to PS3' totally missing the point of a wish.

 » MARIO KART WOOOT!!!!!!!

Cant wait but the completey over 900000 level of awesomeness that is SSBB will more than tide me over ^_^!

Tapp maybe that will happen if one day all games play on one console...... hopefully not i think cause there would be no console compitition which can be bad or good for us thats how the wii was made :D

The PS3 and 360 wouldn't be able to pull off a Mario game. They're too serious about it all. Neither has the right audience.

You wouldn't be able to get away with turning Mario Kart into a generic graphic heavy racer. Which would be inevitable.

yeah i dont like how serious all the games on xbox and ps3 are thats partly why nintendo is so cool its because theyre so unique and different with pretty much all they do

Actualy, they would survive on the 360 and PS3. It's called XBL and PSN. Notice how most of those games are Flash like filed with eye candy. It's called Nintendoism :)

That's why the "network" games are so popular. They're fun loving Nintendo type games.

 » yeah but

The most expensive XBOX live arcade game costs $10. Pretty much applies to the simpler PS3 downloadable games too. Wii games cost $30-$50 for similar minigames.
Once Wiiware launches (XBOX live arcade ripoff) you can download tetris and bubble wrap pop or whatever its called. Ninty's greedy arse will likely charge $10 for that when it comes out.

 » Uh dumbass MCS...

The developers choose the prices for their games, not Nintendo....

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

Agreed! That idiot Mr. Nonsense knows nothing of which he speaks.

1. We don't know the prices of Wiiware games so arguing such information is very idiotic.

2. You compare XBL games with full packaged Wii games? That's just plain ignorance.

"2. You compare XBL games with full packaged Wii games? That's just plain ignorance."

When the Wii has total crap games like Jenga, Crusin', Bleach shattered blade, Soulcalibur Legends, Anibus 2, etc. yes I do. Many XBOX live games are not only more fun but a much better value than retail Wii games.

Opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion and more opinion. Of which, might I add, no one cares about.
