It seems like getting over E3 isn't as easy as we thought it would be. Take Nintendo's sales chief, Cammie Dunaway. She was a major on-stage presence at the E3 presentation, and as it turns out, she wasn't all too happy with what went down then. In an interview with VGChartz, she recognized what seemed to have been an isolation of the hardcore gamers. She admits that it there was some sort of imbalance in their presentation, having lots of goodies for the casual fans (like news on Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort) and yet none really for the more serious gamers. "I would say the message is we were disappointed with our performance at E3. There were titles like Wario [Land: Shake It!] which we think will be really fun titles that we have showcased." Indeed, with the continuous barrage of more casual titles coming to the Wii, the hardcore base of Nintendo certainly feels like they're being left out. It is obvious that the powers-that-be at Nintendo are recognizing this folly and so are now trying to placate and appease their fans. "We were excited that Mr. Miyamoto made the commitment that Pikmin is coming. It would have been nice if we could have said that on stage," she says. Furthermore, "We think it was a good recognition for us that we care for our core fans, and not just the new people who are now discovering Nintendo." Too bad they skipped this year's Leipzig Games Convention. You'd think it would be the perfect opportunity to make up for the E3 blunder, no? Related Articles: |
