Nintendo has announced that it will be running a series of Mario Kart Wii tournaments online. This is a great opportunity for gamers to see how well they stack up against the rest of the gaming community in terms of skill.

According to the press release, Nintendo will be posting a new tournament every few weeks with various challenges for players to perform.

The tasks range from completing a course as fast as possible using specific characters to collecting a certain number of coins on a course using the Wii Wheel or another control setup.

The first tournament which starts today has players competing against each other for the fastest time on the Mario Circuit. Players can keep repeating the challenge during the duration of the tournament with the best time being recorded and added to the worldwide rankings.
