As you guys will recall, Nintendo recently released a new TV Guide service for its Wii consoles in Japan. That said, we remind you guys that this is Nintendo we're talking about, meaning that this new channel will carry some interesting features you wouldn't normally find on a typical guide.

For one, the company's official site details that you can register either your mobile phone number or email address (not friend codes, unfortunately) to the Wii TV guide. If you happen to have marked a program you're waiting for, the guide will automatically mail 30 minutes before your show starts.

Another feature Nintendo's put is the guide's ability to display what shows your friends have highlighted. You can highlight your own shows of course, which Nintendo apparently uses to rate which shows are getting the most viewers.

You can also use the Wiimote as your TV remote while the Wii TV guide is running, though Nintendo does note that depending on your TV model, it may not always work. We'll let you know if any new updates are found regarding this, or if the company decides to grace North America's couch potatoes with this new channel.
