Nintendo of America: SSBB smashes records with 1.4 million units sold in U.S.

It seems that Super Smash Bros. Brawl is doing better than Nintendo first thought. Well, maybe the fact that they hyped it up to enormous proportions with the daily Smash Bros. Dojo website update and actually delivered may have clued them in as to just how big a success it was going to be. But now they're actually surprised - with Nintendo of America issuing a press release on just how good things are going for Brawl.

So, just what did the press release say? Not much, except the fact that as of this writing, Super Smash Bros. Brawl has sold more than 1.4 million units in the U.S., with more than 874,000 copies flying off store shelves the day it was released. Maybe that's not quite a lot, but when you realize that when we tie up all the numbers, Brawl has been selling more than 120 units per minute. That's 120 copies being rang up on the register by the time a Smash Ball has appeared in a match with all the players gunning desperately for it.

There's also the deal about Nintendo promising to keep up the momentum, with Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit coming in the near future. That's all well and good, Nintendo, but what we really want is more epic games to fantasize over. Maybe the next console Legend of Zelda? That would certainly grab us. In any case, updates as we get them!

I'd say Nintendo can make a better game than all the half assed third party efforts, so guess what, it sells great!

Good job Nintendo for making an inferior system nobody wants to make quality games for!

nintendo has always led the pack when it makes games for it's own system (duh), but the Wii is completely different, makes developers think out of the box, which most aren't used to.

as far as inferior, it's graphics don't look no where as good as ps3/360, but if you care more about graphics than gameplay, you have serious issues,

No PS3 or 360 games have good gameplay? The gameplay is better because of the processing power. Graphics and sound are just a plus. Plus Sony and Microsoft have something called "quality standards." Nintendo will let any game come out on the Wii, and many of them are quite horrible.
