Nintendo Press Conference - Image 1During Nintendo's press conference in Japan, and later on in their press conference in the US, they announced that future Wii software from the shopping channel can be downloaded to the SD card.

That means we don't have to re-download stuff everytime we have to delete something to free up space. But it still drives me bonkers to think that they waited all this time before they acknowledged the need for this feature.

Wonder if advances in Wiibrew had anything to do with it. The community has long since been able to transfer WAD files to and from the Wii and the SD card. The question though, is how Ninty plans to regulate these transfers, what with the issue of piracy and all.

Now if only they'd give support for a hard drive.

This should be good enough for most people. Nintendo might be able to raise the 2GB limit via software as well for the SD slot. All it takes is money!

Still feeling the need to act like a child eh? Don't worry, some day you'll grow up and these moronic tendencies will go away.

I'm tired of feeling unsure of whether my data will be safe in the Wii flash. Plus, I running out of room. I was waiting since launch for this.

Now, hopefully people will now be able to transfer VC games to other Wii and play them.

I would be even happier if I could run VC games or wiiware right off my SD card. I already have a way to install and uninstall games from the wii. So this is nothing new to most homebrew users. As it is I find myself deleting games to make room for other wiiware titles.

You forget about something here. that just means you can download games directly to the SD card, NOT starting them form there.

You could transfer games to SD card for a long time now. All this does is skip one step. Still an improvement, though.

Well, IGN sucks. Had they used my news tip and source they would have seen that their was mention of launching the software from the memory stick as well.

Downloading straight to storage makes no sense. You download to play. Not to put away.
