Rumors followed last month that Nintendo was preparing to upgrade that 1.8 million Wii per month production line top 2.4 million capacity, and a later report confirmed that indeed, Nintendo has 600,000 more Wiis to be available each month.

Nintendo was proud to have ramped up their production capacity for the Wii some months ago, but they weren't confident that the new numbers of supply would be sufficient to meet the demand especially during the holiday season.

Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Aime stated that the company was going to reach a 2.4 million capacity, though it's not certain when. Whenever it will be, this would mark the fourth time that the company will upgrade the worldwide production capacity since the Wii's launch back in 2006.

This doesn't reflect how many Wii's will be available for the US market, however, as the 2.4 million may be split into more markets now that more regions have launched the Wii.

Either way, Nintendo's US boss seems pretty confident that the supply would soon "balance" the demand. But as we await official announcement as to when the production will ramp up, we can be sure the balancing act won't begin yet. More updates as we get them.
