Nintendo Wii - Image 1"There is absolutely no truth whatsoever in what they (Maxconsole) have written, it is totally unsubstantiated and merely rumour they are reporting as fact."

That's Nintendo's response to reports that the Kyoto-based company could be feeding the media with press releases containing information intended to hype up sales for its Nintendo Wii game console.

The buzz started after reports telling the stories of families paying in excess of the Nintendo Wii's retail price appeared in totally different newspapers in the UK with stark similarities in wording. Gaming website Maxconsole, according to CVG, then picked this story up and suggested that Nintendo could have "fed" both publications the report to boost Wii demand hype.

"We are certainly NOT distributing any press release to feed media with demand stories - we never have," retorts Nintendo.

CVG then posts a counter-theory to Maxconsole's own by suggesting that there are various news pool sources from which newspapers can take stories for publication. This story could have come from one of those, which would explain the identical wording."

The Nintendo Wii has been in high demand ever since it launched in December of 2006. It has led monthly console sales shortly thereafter and is now recognized as the fastest-selling console of all time with stores running out of stock in mere hours.

If the resellers would keep their *****ing hands off of the new stock, maybe some of these systems would fall into the right hands and the madness could finally end.
Sadly, there isn't going to be a shortage of greedy opportunists any time soon.
Shame on them.

 » Interesting.

Oh, no. Not the story. I could care less.

The interesting part is Nintendo getting some Hate, Everybody loves an underdog but when they turn into the big player?. This should be amusing.

» Buy now! Supplies are limited!

Nintendo's main marketing tool this holiday is the limited supplies and the mysterious demand that remains higher. Who knows if they are responsible for the reports or not, but either way they are intentionally making less than demand to make it a hot item this season because it really has very little to offer even after a year. This also helps them save on game development and advertising. Stupid people think, "Wow if they're still sold out after a year, it must be really great!" and it works...

 » Common sense? Hardly

They're making the normal amount. They're not going to build a new production line to cope with holiday demand because it will go down afterwards, and they'll have a new machine sitting there doing nothing. Obviously, that's a bad thing.

As usual mister common sense talks out his rear!

"but either way they are intentionally making less than demand to make it a hot item this season"
Supply proof or be known as a liar! OR add the word OPINION to that nonsense of yours.

Here's a FACT you can look up! There are LESS faulty Wii's then any other console in the current war. So is Nintendo not making enough or are they just doing it RIGHT?

# of faulty units:
360>PS3>Wii

 » Less faulty Wiis?

That's hardly an accomplishment. They've been making basically the same thing for the last 6 years! Old technology is easy and (should be) cheap to make.

Atari can make very few faulty retro Atari 2600 consoles for $30, but who wants those? LOL!

The truth is, Microsoft and Sony know the importance of producing adequate units for sale to eliminate supply constraints and know they have a competitve product. They don't rely on marketing gimmicks like production cutbacks to increase demand artifically.

HAHAHA!!!! Your ignorance is getting the best of you. How many units do you think they produced back then per month? How many would they have to produce per month today? That ALONE is business on two completely different levels. You have absolutely no clue what-so-ever as to what you are talking about when it comes to manufacturing.

"They don't rely on marketing gimmicks like production cutbacks to increase demand artifically."
Neither does Nintendo. Like I said, provide proof or zip it. No one buys your crap around here. Your a hater, plan and simple. Everyone knows that.

"The truth is, Microsoft and Sony know the importance of producing adequate units for sale"
Then why don't they? Stores run out of those as well. Not a single store around me in SoCal has a PS3.

You also have no clue as to what actual sales #'s are. The Wii is outselling the other two. Which means not only is Nintendo producing the LOWEST failure rate, they are producing MORE consoles then MS and Sony.

Seeing as how Nintendo is doing MUCH MORE and doing it BETTER.....what was your crying about???
