WiiThe US side of the company said it wouldn't be. But Nintendo UK insists that the Wii is region-locked. The announcement was made through its spokesperson in response to questions from journalists. Also, in an interview with IGN, Nintendo UK General Manager David Yarnton also confirmed that "games and online services will be region-coded."

In both cases, when the journalists followed up by mentioning that Nintendo US had earlier announced that the Wii would be region-free, both the spokesperson and Yarnton replied that the US side of the house made a mistake. So far, as of this posting, there has been no reply from the US side that has reached our ears or our web browsers, so stand-by for further updates. We ourselves want to know if our Wii would be region-free... or not.

 » Well, that sucks...

One of these days they'll quit screwing us on the regional protection front. I can understand other countries not wanting to mix it up with less savory indivuals from, God only knows where, in the online arena. As far as the games, give us a break.

 » Freeloader

I'm sure they'll be a Freeloader equivelant for the Wii (incase you don't know what FL does, it let's you play other region GC games) on your own region GC.
