With the successful Japanese launch of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl, several people have encountered problems loading their recently bought copies of the game. According to the company, the disc read errors noted were supposedly caused by the dirt accumulated on their consoles which lead to problems reading the sensitive DVDs packing the game.

Since the game's release a few days ago, numerous complaints have arrived stating that buyers couldn't get their newly purchased discs read by their consoles. Other errors such as choppy playback were also noted by the customers. What's more, these errors were tied in exclusively to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game, with other games working fine on their systems.

Nintendo explained that the new dual layer DVD format of the game caused the discs to become more sensitive compared to other titles released on the console. The company has offered to clean the consoles free of charge to compensate the customers who have experienced problems loading the game.

The Nintendo Japan website explains the procedures on how and where to send their faulty consoles for cleaning. As long as they send their system, warranty card, and copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl to the Nintendo service center in Kyoto, all costs will be paid for by the company with an assurance of a squeaky clean console by the end of the week.

This offer only applies to the Japanese market and the Japan released copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
