DSi - Image 1Nintendo's press conference in Japan yesterday left everyone in a frenzy over the new DSi. Now Ninty's press conference in the US might also get gamers in a frenzy, but not for the same reason.

It's been announced that the DSi model won't leave Japan's shores until "well into" 2009. It seems that for the rest of 2008, the DSi is "strictly Japan-related."

On the brighter side of life, it seems that Nintendo will be shipping out more units of both the Wii and the DS for the rest of the year. "Dramatically more."

While those who haven't been able to grab a Wii yet (after close to two years since its launch, how unlucky for you) will stand a greater chance to get one for the holidays, the increase of DS units just feels too much like they're clearing shelves in preparation for the DSi.

I expect the DS won't be so popular during the holidays among the more informed gamers who know the DSi is coming.

Thanks to ISOHaven for sending in the heads up!

 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

This makes me sad. My fourth NDSL is broken and I didn't want to spend more money knowing something new had to be around the corner. Now it's WAY DOWN THE BLOCK :(

Ah well....

 » o_0 your fourth?!?!

I've had mine for about a little less than two years now. Whacha been doin' with yours?

Ah well... I'm actually already considering having to retire this unit of mine (the touchpad's banged up like whoa, dunno if replacing the screen protector will help)... so I'm thinking... if I decide to get a new one, this new DSi couldn't come at a better time. ^_^

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-10-02
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

I turned it in for warranty three times. Hence on my fourth unit. Each unit was replaced (serial number).

On every single unit the right shoulder would work intermittently then the left would suffer the same fate. Then shortly after they would both stop working completely.

Yes, that happened to every single one. My guess is, because I always kept it in my pocket. Lint? Who knows. But they each died the same way. I opened my last one and tried to clean it out but that didn't work.

This is a PSP 3000 move. They put out a fat system. Realese a slimmer one a year later, and then put out another slim model with virtually no major difference compared to the first remodel.

Is this better?

Bigger screens, but no higher resolution?
No GBA compatibility anymore?
Half-assed media player, 4 years late.
2 cameras? Why the hell would you need 2? Is there a game or two planned that could actually use it?
Web browser, on one tiny low resolution screen? The PSP browser was bad enough!
Wow low resolution videos and pictures, just when there's thousands of consumer electronics devices that do that BETTER.

Here's what the new DS needs.
One BIG screen, not 2.
One camera, if any.
Bigger D pad, you know for possible adult use?

Oh yeah, DECENT GAMES not new hardware nobody is interested in.

   Re: kraft - 2008-10-02
 » Don't forget

it also has a shorter battery life than the DS Lite

The mdia player only plays AAC files... no MP3s WTF

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-10-02
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

The battery life is to be determined. Of my 4 NDSLs none of them every got 15 hours. That's just insane. Confirmed that with many other user on another Nintendo site. In fact, most people claimed to be lucky if they got the 9 hours that the new one claims to get.

Once again, directed at Mr. Common Douche Bag. Is it better? That's for each person to decide. However:

"Bigger screens, but no higher resolution?"
And it doesn't spit out candy. What kinda of an idiot comment is this? Yes, bigger screens are better. As for resolution. Why? It's still a small screen. There is no need for higher resolutions. That would ADD MORE to the cost then the improvement would be in itself.

"No GBA compatibility anymore?"
Yes, you read right. Why is this in question form? You can't read or what? Oh yeah, that's right, you CAN NOT READ. Anyway, plenty of people have asked for this to drop. The thinner unit will be better for it. Want both DS and GBA support? Then buy an NDSL and not a DSi. Gee, that was HARD. Or maybe find an actual GBA on eBay.

"Half-assed media player, 4 years late."
The only thing half-assed around here is you. It can either play music or not. It will.

"2 cameras?"
Such a bonehead!

"Web browser, on one tiny low resolution screen? The PSP browser was bad enough!"
So because your eyes suck, everyone else should suffer? Piss off!

"Wow low resolution videos and pictures, just when there's thousands of consumer electronics devices that do that BETTER."
Thousands? Try again.

"One BIG screen, not 2."
Screw you! We'll keep 2 thank you very much!

"One camera, if any."
Such a bonehead!

"Bigger D pad, you know for possible adult use?"
Adults have no problem. Yet you do. Do you are neither a kid nor an adult. What a jackass.

"Oh yeah, DECENT GAMES not new hardware nobody is interested in."
So far, it's gotten plenty of attention. Positive attention. Add that to the plenty of good games and you are again

an idiot that knows nothing of which he speaks.

   Re: Artemisk - 2008-10-03
 » NOT WTF!?!?!?!?!

For once I actually disagree with ISOHaven, not only because he is the one acting like a douchebag but because Mister Common Sense actually does make valid points and does deserve such harsh criticism. The big screen but not bigger resolution does also strike me as a bit strange as well. I also agree with the browser on a low res screen. Most likely youtubes and other flash related things will not work.

The two cameras do make sense though, suppose you want to take a picture of yourself, you'd have to look through the screen side in order to ... see the picture you're taking. And the one on the outside in order to take pictures of someone or something else so you could see the results. Also the DS with one screen wouldn't be a DS :P Also there are plenty of decent games, depending on what you're interested in that is.

   Re: Artemisk - 2008-10-03
 » Whoops

Meant DOES NOT deserve such harsh criticism*

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-10-03
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

So you agree with him and you disagree with me. Hum, let me quote myself then:

"Is it better? That's for each person to decide."

So you disagree with that and you think that is a douche bag comment. Interesting.

To sum up Mr. Common Douche Bags comment, the DSi should ditch the camera, ditch the web browser, bring back the GBA slot, leave the screen size alone since the upgrade isn't good enough.... sounds a whole lot like the NDS to me! Which make his comments pointless.

Also, as usual his comments are pretentious BS at very best. For example:

"Bigger D pad, you know for possible adult use?"

That is just plain ridiculous seeing as how plenty of Adults have ZERO problem using it. That is pretentious by nature which again, make him a douche bag.

But hey, if you support such pretentious BS then good for you.

Maybe if iso could READ and possibly COMPREHEND, he would realize I think the DS lite is fine for the most part. The hardware is decent, just the games suck.

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-10-03
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

And maybe if you weren't such an f-ing retard you would see this article is about the DSi.

The NDS being "fine" doesn't have a DAMN THING to do with the DSi.

There are plenty of improvements if not MORE then the DNS->DNSL update.

Did you cry like a baby when Nintendo released the NDSL? OMFG!!!?!?!?! The NDSL is going to have a slightly brighter screen! OMFG!!!?!?!?! What's the POINT!

STFU, you fail.

"And maybe if you weren't such an f-ing retard you would see this article is about the DSi."

Poor baby, did I make you angry?

"The NDS being "fine" doesn't have a DAMN THING to do with the DSi."

A hardware update is totally unnecessary. After all, it will still play the same s*itty DS games catered to 10 year old children.

"There are plenty of improvements if not MORE then the DNS->DNSL update."

Completely worthless improvements you mean?

"Did you cry like a baby when Nintendo released the NDSL? OMFG!!!?!?!?! The NDSL is going to have a slightly brighter screen! OMFG!!!?!?!?! What's the POINT!"

The DS lite was better in every way. No features removed, just added. I traded in my old DS, so?

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-10-09
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

"Poor baby, did I make you angry?"
Yeah, that's it.

"A hardware update is totally unnecessary. After all, it will still play the same s*itty DS games catered to 10 year old children."
Other morons, like yourself, said the same thing about the NDSL. Look how wrong you both are!!!

"Completely worthless improvements you mean?"
Maybe to you, but not to millions of other people. How is offering an online store worthless? It does in FACT have WORTH.

"The DS lite was better in every way. No features removed, just added. I traded in my old DS, so?"
So? Are you a f@cking psychopath? Let me quote you from the SAME POST:

"After all, it will still play the same s*itty DS games catered to 10 year old children."
Why did you update, PAY MONEY for something that is "s*itty"? Because you're an *****. That's why. Because you are completely full of crap! You're a liar. You make things up as you go along. You say one thing then say the complete opposite IN THE SAME POST.

If they leave the GBA slot in then the DSi is the same update as the NDSL. So all this crying like a damn baby is about the GBA slot? Why? They don't even make those games anymore. No wonder you act the way you do. I wouldn't except any less from such a failure.

Again, the DSi has just as many improvements as the NDSL. Once again, sales figures will prove you wrong for the millionth time!
