Nintendo Channel: Not a threat to Wii Homebrew development - Image 1A couple of hours ago, we reported that North America and Canada's Nintendo Channel for the Wii console was launched. The new Wii channel will enable console owners to, among other things, watch videogame trailers and download demos for their DS.

Early good news aside, this update may also worry some developers out there, and its implications for the console's homebrew scene.

For the moment, there doesn't seem to be cause for alarm. The WiiBrew site reports that the Nintendo Channel update doesn't appear to affect the Twilight Hack or the Wii Homebrew channel.

Given that this is an early report, we advise the readers to keep alert. For one, it's still unclear how Nintendo's new automated info transmission scheme will come into play with regards to homebrew development. Visit us again in case we receive any more updates regarding this matter.
