Ó

I still haven't fully wrapped my head around the thought of a Sonic game where the iconic blue hedgehog wields Excalibur Calibur, but hey, whatever Sega. As long as it's good.

Anyway, Sega's released a bunch of new screenshots from Sonic and the Black Knight, a Wii-exclusive title where Sonic is thrust into the Arthurian legends. The game will feature a sword-fighting system using the Wii's motion-sensing Wiimote.

Screenshots are below, and they certainly do look pretty. Sonic and the Black Knight is slated for a Spring 2009 release in Japan. North America is slated to get the game on March 2009.

» WTF is this devil may make sonic cry?

i remember the good old days where sonic could kill enemys by jumping on them and out popped a cut little animal

not by choping there heads off with a sword....

never the less im interested in how this will turn out, it might even be good...

Was that only in the dreamcast version? or did said "cute little animals" always pop out?

Sonic is the Blue Blur, he doesn't need a sword to defeat his enemies. All he needs is his speed, or to make use of his surroundings. I mean it looks interesting, but why can't they just stick to something traditional, yet original?

» Does SEGA not realize we hate this engine

Do they not realize that everyone hated the Secret Rings and Unleashed engine? So what do they do? Make another game out of it. It's as though they WANT Sonic to be hated.

 » my wishes

My wishes for this game would be that it uses Wii Motion Plus. This would not be the ideal game for the device but since this game is going to be made it might as well try do do what it is going to to the best way possible...

the sad thing is... people will still buy it.
Because it's...well...Sonic.

Just like with Mario and Zelda. The only difference here is that Marios and Links adventures are actually good.

who knows maybe this game will actually be good. The last Sonic game I got was Sonic Adventure 2 for the Gamecube and it had it's moment. Having a sword at least adds something new rather than the loop da loops and boxes with rings. Mario changed it's style by giving him weapons like the water pump and whatnot. Sonic should change it up and make the rings hard to find instead of all over the place. I think that's what they're doing here.

 » Hates engine?

Actually a lot of people enjoyed Sonic Unleashed. If ANYTHING the engine needs to be fine tuned. Sonic Unleashed got 8's and 9's across the board. People said it was the most fun Sonic game since the Sonic Adventure games. Regardless, they just slightly need to change the engine.
