HMV exec reports Wii demand still high - Image 1According to HMV, the Wii is still practically flying off store shelves as consumer demand for the console stays at an all-time high. If this trend continues, supply for the holiday season will surely run out.

But on the upside, game sales have been rising as well, and not just Nintendo's first-party titles. Tim Ellis says that third-party games are now racking up sales numbers.

More DS to Wii connectivity hijinks in this demo video of Ubisoft's My Word Coach for the Nintendo Wii. In it, we see players using their DS lites as a writing pad of sorts, to fill in the missing letter of the word currently on the TV screen. A good thing, since the game IS time-based, and writing the missing letter down on the DS with the stylus is certainly quicker and easier than using the Wiimote.

It's also worth noting that there's little lag between the TV screen and the DS, as well as the game being able to make out handwriting more efficiently. And while the actual connectivity between the DS and the Wii is merely as a more convenient controller, it's great that Nintendo's spreading the next-gen love to their current-gen brainchilds, rather than simply concentrate on one.

Enough chatter from us, though. Enjoy the video!

Ubisoft revealed earlier today its newest Wii title, My Word Coach. The video game is different from some of the company's more established Wii titles such as Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids. My Word Coach is sort of a casual game, geared to train players' communication and vocabulary skills.

What we have below is a walkthrough video clip from the game's lead designer Peter Yang. Aside from talking about the basic controls, menu, and objectives of the game, Yang also said that My Word Coach is more than just a spelling title. He enthused that the game focuses on the words' definition and how to use them in different situations.

There is still no release date for My Word Coach but Ubisoft hinted that it should be available sometime during Fall 2007. A DS version of the title is also being planned.

My Word Coach - Image 1

And here we have the first batch of screenshots for the newest title from Ubisoft for the Wii. My Word Coach is geared to train your communication and vocabulary skills. So basically, its theme is similar to Brain Age in the sense that this game stimulates your thinking cap.

It looks interesting thus far, and personally, it reminds me of Text Twist to a certain degree. So if you're up for some spelling bee-ish game, then My Word Coach could just be right for you. There's no particular date set yet for My Word Coach, but you may expect it to come out by Fall this year. It will also be available on the DS.
