More WiiWare info revealed - Image 1For those of us excited about the Nintendo Wii's exclusive, garage developer-friendly Wii channel, WiiWare, here's some info that should clear up the veil of mystery that the Big N's thrown over this piece of indie gaming heaven.

Most obvious and important questions include what sort of titles we'll be expecting during the first few months, and how much Wii Points will it set us back to get our fix. So, the details:

  • The first titles will be focusing on puzzle and educational genres
  • Nintendo will help to publish titles for small developers
  • Pricing is expected to be under $10, but nothing official has been announced
  • Future WiiWare titles will cross various genres, as well as game projects
Not a very long list of details, to be sure, but definitely meaty and full of info. And while we'll be playing with puzzle and educational games right at the beginning, it certainly helps that Nintendo will be there to publish titles for the small guys, the unsung heroes that have all these great game ideas but unfortunately lack the capital to do so.

It's also good to find out that in the future, WiiWare games will take the form of full-blown games rather than mere mini games or distractions. With WiiWare, Nintendo looks to change the landscape of this industry completely, and frankly, it's been a long time coming.

 » are demos dead

men with all the stuff u could do on the wii it wouldnt kill them to make short demos of new games would it. i know we got the metroid thing but it would have been so much better if it were a demo. the 360 has them, the ps3 will have them so y cant we. n if we do get them they r more then likely going to charge us. so i hope they get free demos for the wii

Equals low. I don't remember getting a PS3 demo under 400mb, which is about all of the wii's memory, and if you store VC games on it like me, you don't even have that much room. It's be nice, but short of an HDD, vids are the best we're likely to see. Besides, I'd rather get full little games than demos anyway.

 » No demos

Satoru Iwata in all his wisdom said "the demos are not good for gamers because i know what gamers want, i want to give gamers sensation that even they dont know they want"(this is a make up but with real base) and the only sensation Nintendo give me regard some "minus" on Wii is...HATE!
