Square EnixFor over a year now, it's been the same old story in Famitsu's Most Wanted list: Japanese gamers who took part in their polls voted Final Fantasy XIII as the most anticipated title. It's claimed the throne for over twelve months already, but that's changed now. What are Japanese gamers looking forward to the most these days? Dragon Quest IX for the DS. Yeah, leave it to the Japanese gamers to replace an RPG with another RPG - another Square Enix RPG, for that matter - on their most wanted list.

Monster Hunter 3 - Image 1There's been apparently some talks earlier pointing to a Monster Hunter 3 port for consoles other than the Wii. But looks like that's been nipped right in the bud even before it could build momentum.

Monster Hunter - Image 1According to a Capcom spokesperson, their upcoming Monster Hunter 3 may be getting some platform releases on other consoles too. In an interview with a Chinese magazine, the Capcom rep mentioned that "the decision of Monster Hunter 3's Wii-exclusivity is not yet final." Which makes the PS3 a likely candidate. More so, we could also end up with another portable Monster Hunter game too, once MH3 gets released.

Monster Hunter 3 by Capcom for the Wii - Image 1After learning about Monster Hunter 3's surprising platform switch from Sony's PlayStation 3 to the Nintendo Wii due to the PS3's high production costs, folks from Capcom wanted to send their apologies to the people who bought Sony's next-gen console with the anticipation of getting Monster Hunter 3.

However, there's still hope for Sony's console in getting a Monster Hunter game, according to Japanese gaming publication Famitsu. Capcom's publicist told the gaming magazine that they have a multiplatform strategy for the Monster Hunter franchise, so there is still a possibility of it coming to the PS3, albeit just a faint one.

And how about a numbered Monster Hunter title for the PSP? While Capcom didn't answer that question directly, they did say that the PSP is very important for the franchise. We do hope that it can be taken as a "yes".

More updates as they come!

In a recent press conference held by Nintendo, it announced the continuation of the popular Monster Hunter franchise with its newest installment for the Nintendo Wii in Monster Hunter 3.

In what supposed to be was a PS3 release for the game, Capcom announced that they will be shifting platforms and have decided to release Monster Hunter 3 instead on the Wii. The reason being for this is because of the "high development cost of titles for PS3."

Considering the rarity of Capcom titles on the Nintendo platform, its not surprising that this will be the debut for the Monster Hunter series to finally hit the Nintendo console. In any case, we have a short trailer video on some stunning visuals of what the game will look like when it finally ships out on the Wii.

There has been no announcement as to when we can expect the game to be released. But rest assured, if the game is anything like its predecessors, you can expect the game to be just as larger-than-life as the previous Monster Hunter games. In the meantime, enjoy the video we have on it and keep coming back for more updates as we get them.

Monster Hunter 3 - Image 1More light has been shed on Capcom's recent decision to bring Monster Hunter 3 to the Nintendo Wii home video game console. Apparently, development costs for the Sony PlayStation 3 played a part in the company's decision.

This was revealed by Katsuhiro Ichii, Capcom's managing corporate officer. Ichii is quoted in a Thompson Financial news report on Hemscott as saying, "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title."

Although Monster Hunter 3's multiplatform status is unclear, Sony still has at least one title in the series - Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G - heading for its PlayStation portable handheld gaming system.

The same reports also quotes Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura as saying that Monster Hunter 3 could bring more teenage players to the Wii fold as the series has a strong fan base in that particular demographic.

Hamamura also noted that the move by Capcom, who has a reputation for creating graphics-intensive titles, could lead to more developers working on Wii titles. The Wii has generally been thought of as unable to handle graphics such as those required by Monster Hunter titles.

Monster Hunter heads for Nintendo's Wii - Image 1

The Monster Hunter series is quite the big hit in Japan, and Capcom certainly picks up a lot of money from the overwhelming sales the series has over there. Now, it seems, the latest sequel for the game will be heading onto Nintendo's Wii console.

Nintendo has just announced that Capcom will be developing the next iteration in the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter 3, for the Wii. Apparently impressed by the wide user base of the Wii, the gaming giant has decided to bring out the game for a new audience. The series was previously seen on the PlayStation 2, with a "Portable" version of the series released on Sony's PlayStation Portable.

There's no word yet on what the series will get in terms of gameplay upgrades when it makes its transition to the Wii, but if it includes using the Wii as a giant sword to hack dinosaurs into little pieces, we're certainly in agreement: this game will be awesome.
