The Wiikey Team has announced a brand new modchip for the Nintendo Wii. It's called Wiikey Fusion, a revolutionary modchip for the Wii with SD card capabilities. It will allow users to play backup ISOs from an SD card and from DVD. The new modchip is scheduled to be released in October. Check out the video demo after the break.

It may not have the same hoopla as E3 had, but the GamesCom sure is making the developers and publishers just as busy all the same. With their promised new wares, any event definitely is an opportunity to show what they've got -- and to impress. We've seen all sorts of fun mods in the news, but this one pushes further into the borders of what you would call the usual mods. For James Larsson, playing Pong is fun, but it seemed like he believed that the game can be taken up a notch. Just like any inventor, he took matters into his own hands, and his output added a twist into Pong that explores realms that Pong was never intended to. Minors, be advised.

Nothing says "gamer inside" on your front door like having a NES controller for a doorbell. In this unrevealed gamer home, a NES controller was modded into a wireless doorbell, giving visitors an added treat when coming over. Video inside.

For those who haven't heard yet, Mega Man 2.5D is a fan-made project created by Swedish animator Peter Sjostrand. "2.5D" simply means that the game is right between 2D and 3D, taking Sjostrand's definition of 2.5D of course. This new vid came out earlier today, and for those who grew up with Mega Man like me, seeing MegaMan and ProtoMan work together is fangasm at its finest.

What happens when you take a Rock Band fan, a guitar peripheral, modding skills, plus a pair of an LED emitter and receiver? You get this cool light beam guitar mod. If the strum bar was getting too low-tech for your tastes, then maybe you should make like adderd019 and turn your boring old peripheral into tomorrow's plaything? Video after the jump.

Well if you don't have strong legs to kick out a beat on Guitar Hero's drum pedals, Ben Heckendorn (Ben Hecks) has another mod to make life easier for you. Taking a GH: World Tour drum kit's kick pedal, he modified it into something that allows you to simply blow on a tube to register bass kicks. He did this mod as a request from someone who uses a wheelchair.

And modder Wiimote modder">DHRECK continues to come up with entertaining mod for the Wii's entertaining Wiimote. Yes, he's no other than the Hemp-Mote guy (though am sure he'd want to be recognized for much more than that :P), and this time he's back with a more minimalist creation, the Mini-Mote.
