A lot has been said already for the video game Wii Fit and peripheral Balance Board. But this recent interview with Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed a couple of things that are curious, to say the least.According to Miyamoto, they were actually developing a software that would probably fit well on the Nintendo DS. This, then, would allow for players' calorie tracking. However, this has been problematic as it is hard to track the food intake of people worldwide. The video game designer added: We also talked about trying to incorporate some form of DS connectivity. We've designed it in a way that by potentially upgrading the Wii Fit Channel we could add upgrades that would allow us to add that kind of functionality. When pressed for further information, Miyamoto refused to share any more details. But his response opens up a lot of questions and possibility. Despite this, Miyamoto said that third-party programs can be created to read players' saved fitness data. Focusing more on the Balance board, Miyamoto shared that they are always experimenting and that there's a good chance that more and more games will be using it in the future. Quoting the man himself: But just looking at how many have sold in Japan already opens up the possibility of... well, maybe not a Mario game that requires the Balance Board to play it, but certainly one that takes advantage of it. That's about it for the interesting tidbits found in this particular interview. If you want to see the full transcript, you can refer to the source link below. |
