Wii ControllerShigeru Miyamoto, Director and General Manager of Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development, revealed interconnectivity plans between Wii and DS.

According to Miyamoto, the technology to support this is already built in to the console but they haven't decided on how to put it to work yet. If this pushes through, it'll make it possible to download content from your Wii to your DS, edit it and then transfer it back to the console. Other possible additions could include the use of touch screen and microphone input from the DS to affect Wii gameplay.

The most exciting bit of all is customizable Wii remotes. Nintendo's hopes are that everyone in the family will have their own personalized Wii remote, so that they can just hop into a game with the controller. Wii would customize the settings of a game based on which controller turned on the console.

The release date together with the price, will likely be announced at the Tokyo Game Show says Miyamoto.

 » Nooooo

We have to wait till the end of September to find out the price and release date of the Wii. That's not good.

That's just one week from the start of the forth quarter. That really makes it sound like we'll see a late November or early December release. For pre-orders to be successful they need to go a month or two. Nintendo won't get that unless they do a December release. I doubt that Nintendo is going to announce at the Tokyo Game Show that you'll be able to purchase a Wii in a week or two with hardly no pre-orders.

I also hope Nintendo doesn't lose too much Wii excitement in that amount of time. I'm getting a little frustrated waiting to hear the price and date.
