Wii Fit - Image 1Wedbush Morgan Analyst Michael Pachter recently gave out a few comments regarding the current Wii Fit shortage in North America, as well as how it could potentially affect the sales of the product.

First off, Pachter pointed out that the shortage of Wii Fit is "one consequence of the weak dollar." He estimated that Nintendo shipped 500,000 copies to North America while Europe got around two million copies. He explained this by saying that "we’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere."

This is rather surprising coming from Pachter since he mentioned before that Nintendo of America would be running the biggest marketing campaign in the company's history. It would just seem more logical that Nintendo would want to recoup the money spent on that campaign instead of focusing on another market entirely.

With regard to how this current shortage may affect the sales of Wii Fit, he pointed out that "They [Nintendo] know that Americans will be just as fat a few months from now." He was basically saying that there will still be a market for the product when more stocks of the product become available in North America.
