Meet the Robinsons - Image 1Meet the Robinsons, developed by Avalanche Software and Disney, was released for the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, GameBoy Advanced, Nintendo DS and the Game Cube. It has been announced that each version of the game will have a new story which expands on the film. The new storyline revolves around Wilbur Robinson, the hero of the game, who must prevent Bowler Hat Guy and his robotic hat Doris from changing the future by messing with the past.

Jon Warner, Avalanche Software's senior producer for the console versions, spoke about their development of the game. He said that it was "critical to create an authentic Robinsons experience by working closely with Walt Disney Animation Studios to explore new possibilities for the franchise while designing a creative and compelling experience for players".

The Xbox 360 and Wii versions of the game take advantage of the specific features of each console. For example,  the Xbox 360 players can show off their scores and achievements online via Xbox Live, while Wii players can use the Wiimote to use their character's gadgets while the Nunchuk is used for targeting. The Nintendo DS release also follows suit, with the touch screen being used for various in-game tasks as well as participate in single/multiplayer matches of the Charge Ball mini-game.

The two handheld releases each have their own storyline. The plot of the DS version if the game has Wilbur trying to retrieve a time-machine stolen from Cornelius Robinson, while the GameBoy Advanced version will have players trying to free the Robinson family from Little Doris and her evil minions.

Craig Relyea, the vice president of marketing of Disney Interactive Studios has commented on the game, saying that "players can completely explore the eccentric and mystifying Robinson house to uncover all of its secrets. Players of all ages will find the experience engaging and most of all, fun."

Meet the Robinsons has already been released in the US and will be released in Europe this October.Fans of the movie should not miss this exciting new offering from Disney Interactive Studios.

Disney's Meet the Robinsons - Image 1We've just come across a post on Go Nintendo reporting that the European release of Meet the Robinsons has been pushed back.

Meet the Robinsons, a time-travelling action/adventure game based on the Disney title of the same name, puts players in the role of Wilbur Robinson as he chases Bowler Hat Guy and his robotic hat Doris through multiple timelines in an attempt to stop their evil machinations.

According to an announcement from Disney Interactive Studios, the game versions of Meet the Robinsons will drop in Europe in October. While those who have been eagerly waiting for this title are sure to be disappointed, one piece of semi-good news is that the movie version won't be hitting theaters in Europe until - you guessed it - October.

There were no details regarding reasons for the delay, so perhaps Disney merely chose to release the game versions alongside the movie itself.

Meet the Robinsons... And play as Wilbur Robinson...

Announced last May, Disney's new movie is (surprise, surprise) having its own video game. Based on the upcoming CGI animation of the same title, Meet the Robinsons is coming for the Wii, Nintendo DS, PS2, and GameBoy Advance, and the developers, Buena Vista Games, are scheduling a 2007 release.

In this game, you play as Wilbur Robinson and help him track down the diabolic Bowler Hat Guy through different timelines to foil his evil plans. As with any time-travelling story, it is important to go through the past without altering the future, and Wilbur has a set of nifty gadgets to help him out. What's also good about this game is that it goes beyond the movie - to be more specific, it weaves in and out of it. Some parts of it are taken from the movie, while some other parts let you discover the rest of the Robinson world! There's even mini-games that you could collect throughout the game as "virtual discs" that you can play.

Now, Disney games are a dime a dozen, and we've seen a lot of them in our lifetime. But see, those games never had the Wiimote to back them up. Here in the Wii version of Meet the Robinsons, we have a time-travelling, action adventure, that we can really (literally) plow through. And hey! We got you some new screenshots and art to show you!
