How much more popular could the Wii get? How about giving it a 20-second appearance at the Academy Awards? That's how. After a commercial break, Jon Stewart - the host of this year's Oscars - was seen playing Wii Sports on the show's big screen display.

Stewart is fond of inserting pop culture references in The Daily Show, and if there was any signal needed to see how popular the Wii has actually gotten, this would probably be it. Not that this is industry news, but it's still a hoot to see a console being played at the Oscars.

Anyhoo, here's the clip if you want to take a look-see:

Since Nintendo has so much cash laying around, why not bribe the Oscars to force John Stewart to play the Wii during commercials and "accidentaly" catch him playing it when the break ends?

Seriously, why else would a Wii be hooked up to the big screen at the Oscars?
