Nintendo's still not giving in to the lures of a price drop, and really, why should they? They have the two bestselling consoles in this generation, both home and handheld. If you think about it, they can afford to keep the Wii at its price point. The good thing though is that this week, they've started making a few concessions. Well one, really. After 12 years, Sony is about to pull the plug on its Yaroze program, which made console development available to aspiring non-professionals. Through this service, subscribers received access to an online community, development software, as well as a very rare black PlayStation One console that allowed devs to run their own code on the system.

After more than a month since the previous release, Tantric's LibWiiGUI gets an update. This GPL-licensed GUI library allows users to create better GUIs easier and more structured. With this update, that whole process just got a bit better. Find out how.

Some recent evidence posted by Wiibrew developer Bushing has revealed that Nintendo may now be charging an extra fee for repairing a homebrew-capable Wii. It's long been generally believed that homebrew voids warranties, but the issue here seems to be the huge additional repair costs, not the fact that a homebrew-enabled Wii is considered out of warranty. Tantric is back with an update for libwiigui, a GUI library for the Nintendo Wii that makes GUI creation easier. Among others, this release adds some corrections to the keyboard as well as a fix for PAL letterboxing.

Who would've thunk that for such a happy, wholesome console like Nintendo's Wii there'd be this much drama to eclipse that of Microsoft and Sony's feud? But seriously guys, followers of the Wii homebrew scene would find this as no laughing matter. Marcan, Team Twiizer (creators  of the famed Twilight Hack) member, is leaving the scene. He's not coming back and he means it.

Wii homebrew dev Tantric has released what looks like a very useful tool for all Wiibrew devs out there, new and old alike. It's called libwiigui and, as you can probably infer from the name, is a GUI library for the Nintendo console. The aim of libwiiGUI is twofold: one, to help structure the design on a complicated GUI; and two, to help Wiibrew devs create sophisticated, feature-rich interfaces.

Wiibrew developer comex has found an exploit on the Wii's System Menu that could render modchips and the Twilight Hack obsolete. Not a lot of details have been released yet, but a preview video has been released. Watch it after the link.

Hooray to t3hsk33n! He's uploaded a new progress video up on YouTube, showcasing the wonderful Snex9xGX v.40 preview. As you will see from the clip below, this new version features an entirely new design and interactive GUI.

If you value your Wiibrew, better no update to the latest issue from Nintendo just yet. The latest update contains changes to various IOS versions, according to Wiibrew.org, and updating isn't recommended at this point until more is known about it.
