Wii homebrew - Wiibrew news and downloads - Homebrew browser - Image 1

From coder teknecal comes one of the most useful Wiibrew applications to date, the Homebrew Browser. This application allows you to download and update your Wiibrew directly on your Wii. Practically speaking, this means you don't have to keep switching your SD card to and from your PC and console just to update your files.

Although the Homebrew Browser currently doesn't support all Wiibrew files out there, it's not hard to imagine that this could become the accepted standard in downloading and updating Wiibrew files. It even updates itself. Who knows? It may even become a permanent fixture of the Homebrew Channel. Here's a vid of the program in action:

The program uses code from another useful Wiibrew program, FTPii. The Homebrew Browser currently supports some of the more popular Wiibrew games and programs, such as WiiPhysics, Duck Hunt, Touhou Fangame, Bubble Dizzy, and a whole lot more. Here are the current features of the program:
  • One click download and install for each homebrew application
  • One click deletion of homebrew applications
  • Able to update your version of a homebrew application once an update comes out for that application
  • Caching of the homebrew application pictures
  • Auto updating when your Homebrew Browser version is out of date.
Devs may want to follow the link below to find out how to get your programs listed on the Homebrew Browser's roster. Be sure to read the documentation included in the download archive for more information.

You can run Wiibrew without the Twilight Hack, well by only using the Twilight Hack once at least, there is a homebrew channel that will run all the Wiibrew apps.
