Samus Aran from the Metroid series - Image 1

Yeah, so Samus Aran is hanging her Power Suit out to dry and will arrive to the Smash arena in her Zero Suit (You'll still have the option to play her in the Power Suit though, but where's the fun in that?). Over at her own galaxy though, Samus doesn't seem to be idling by with laundry chores. She's got one heck of an adventure cut out for her in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. And that's only counting the first two levels.

Dropping by GoNintendo, NDAninja gave everyone a heads up of Play magazine's coverage on their experience with Metroid 3 during the Nintendo Media Summit. The bulleted list below sums up the info in the magazine (with a bit of spoilers included too). Now we feel that waiting for the game's release is even more taxing. Here's why:
  • First level - You are attacked on a spaceship while meeting with the ship's captain…action packed
  • Play feels motion controls work better than dual joystick
  • Super sensitive pointer in "advanced" mode
  • Beam stacking ala Super Metroid
  • Visor switch: Hold minus and flick Wiimote in certain directions
  • Boss fight with Ridley at the end of the first level. Excellent difficulty curve by the time you reach the boss.
  • Back tracking in MP3:C makes more sense than in previous Primes
  • Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted "Twilight Princess" levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls.
  • Second level - floating city focused on exploration
  • Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2
  • Corruption Mode not available in demo
  • Play says it could be the biggest revolution in FPS gaming since Halo.
With this in mind though, we're wondering what Nintendo Power's got to offer. Hopefully more info and screenshots. Can we get a gameplay video sometime soon too? Actually, even better, can't we get the game already? Here's to hoping all the "Twilight Princess levels of polishing" goes smoothly.

 » better have online multiplayer

if it suppose too be a revelution in fps and be better than halo than it better have online multiplayer because there is nothing revelutionary about a fps with out online multiplayer, online multiplayer is mandatory these days and this is nintendo's only fps title and if they set the standard with this game by having great gameplay and alsome online multiplayer than 3rd partys would be forced to try harder and give us good looking games with good controle and online multiplayer.

I Like that pic of that metroid being blown to bits....I hate those things on metroid prime and prime 2...the way they stick to the screen....creeps me out

I jump back each time they stick on the screen. They probably made it that way so we get "into the game" somehow. When is this game releasing?

» My favorite Nintendo series currently

Whre have you been? Metroid Prime 1 and 2 were both FPS. Dont see how you could miss that.
I heard with proof that you will be going to different planets.
But Im not going to spoil the story for you.
Metroid prime is similar to the original Metroid series except in first person, everything is, in a sense, about the same.
Except for the second one where the additional beams required ammo.
Still got the Morph Ball too.

» Corruption never felt so good!

I just bought my issue of Play magazine today and wow! MP3:C is looking great! I was excited to see that new Galactic Federation-styled design of Samus' Varia suit, it was pretty surprising actually. August 20th! Yeah!!!

Sounds very much like Halo to me. Don't Nintendo have any of their own ideas?

Souds very much like Sci-Fi to me. I'd say about 1/4 of Sci-Fi movies/games that are in space start like this, Halo didn't do it first.

Didn't like... every other Metroid game start like that?

» I know you wont believe me but

Actually Halo stole a few aspects from the metroid series.
I consider the Metroid series one of the most original series out there.

Yeah, I'm just hoping that this game proves wii's graphix....I mean..MP2 and MP1 amazed me back in their day, and I hope MP3 does too

I'm glad they've got the controlls figured, and hopefully Ninty will hand out program guide or something to help other devs looking to make FPS's on wii...cause RS and Call of duty sucked.
