Europe Virtual Console update: Adventure Island and Street Gangs - Image 1It's time again for Europe's dose of retro gaming fun courtesy of Nintendo's Virtual Console service. This week's theme for the European VC releases? Kidnapped girlfriends. Yes, we've got two retro titles that centers on heroes and damsels in distress: Street Gangs and Adventure Island.

Adventure Island was originally released for the NES back in 1986 and features side scrolling gameplay. Yes, Master Higgins is back and he's out to save his kidnapped girlfriend from the evil Witch Doctor. The Island, as it turns out, is infested with monsters and you'll have to collect fruits (among other stuff) to charge up your power reserves.

Street Gangs, on the other hand, was first released in 1989 for the NES and you may recognize the video game better by its name stateside, River City Ransom. Street Gangs centers on Alex and Ryan as they go up against Slick and his gang to rescue Ryan's girlfriend, Cyndi. The beat 'em up game features some humor (enemies say, BARF!) and some diversity in the weapons division.

Both Virtual Console titles have a 500 Wii Point price tag. Stay tuned for more VC releases in the coming weeks.
