You know I can see why the Wii outsells everything in the US ok granted. But I thought that the Japanese were (most of them at least) techphiles and would naturally buy a ps3 or (unlikely) the 360 ...and yet the wii sells nearly half a million consoles i month... ...And I know that money is not an issue there for most people....I dont get these people.
Any japanese here who would like to comment..?

well people in japan overall have always seemed to like none hard core games i think thats partly why the Ps2 sold so well cause it had so much more games on it and was the most popular one the same with the wii so i think and hope that the wii will continue to be the next "PS2" so to speak

The only reason the PS2 is still very successful in Japan is the huge library of quality games for it. The Wii however, with a small library of pointless minigames, half-assed ports, and only a couple decent first party titles will never achieve the same success.
The new PS2 in Japan will be the PS3.
