ESRB rates Super R-Type for Nintendo Wii Virtual Console future release - Image 1

The Entertainment Software Rating Board or ESRB has just re-rated the SNES original Super R-Type for release on Nintendo's Virtual Console service for the Wii. The rating given to it was an E for mild fantasy violence.

Anyway, Super R-Type was developed and published by Irem for the Super FamiCom and first came out in 1991. While being part of the R-Type franchise, this particular creation is non-canon and doesn't follow the game's story progression.

Sadly, many remember Super R-Type from its frustrating slowdowns whenever many enemies are dispatched and are present on the screen. This is rather problematic as it results to instant kills when the game suddenly shifts to full speed without warning.

Also, the game is considerably hard compared to the others because it lacks checkpoints. We hope that Nintendo has found a way to somehow fix these things to make the return of Super R-Type memorable in a good way for gamers.
